Yeah, but I hated AU before hating AU was cool. I just thought it was funny that he was making out like I was the ONLY one rooting for Oregon...(read against AU)
He's playing against a lot of other "pro's" too. You don't think this is some iso do you? fwiw, I think he was a steal for 200K. :hihi:
Correct me if I am wrong, but 1) they have declared that they are convinced that Cam had nothing to do with this, as far as they can detect. (NCAA) 2) it has "apparently" been proven that his dad and an agent did try to shop his services. 3) there has been no money trail to prove that any cash was offered or accepted. 4) although it will take some time, the FBI is/has investigated 5) what good would it do to take 180k and not be able to spend it. If it is hidden, it must stay that way at least until Cam gets his first NFL paycheck. I just don't see taking that chance. If the FBI "finds" money, his dad can easily go to jail for tax evasion. I hate to see this cloud for many reasons but first and foremost is that this opens up one hell of a Pandora's box. With this precedence, any young player can now be "shopped" by anyone claiming to have the influence to get his signature on a LOI. All the player has to do is stay out of the way...know nothing...see nothing...say nothing. If I knew some LSU booster, who was willing to anti up money, I could try to take him....(Yes sir....I know young Mettenbugger quite well and I think I have a good bit of influence on him and his decision about where he wants to go to college. If Mr. LSU gives me any money depending upon the LOI......I send young Mr. M a letter saying that I sure hope he goes to LSU. He "happens" to sign with LSU. BOOM...PAY ME...Just too many angles that could be played with this as a starting precedence.) And there are way too many kids coming from poor backgrounds, whose parents basically have nothing, and possibly do not have the scrupples to resist temptation. And there are many more con artists and scammers available to tempt them....
Ya ever wonder why it was $180k, that is such an odd #. Why not $150, $200, or $250k those are normal numbers. $180k just sounds so specific, like it was the exact cost of something.
They have not. The NCAA reinstated Newton's eligibility because the investigation is still ongoing. They have not made any rulings yet. Probably wont for a long time.
