Let's not forget the help we got from Dan Mullen. If he doesn't put in a second team center to snap the ball over Prescott's head we wouldn't have sniffed a chance to win the game. This was an ass whippin' in every sense. The score doesn't reflect it, but those of us that watched it know it wasn't just a loss, it was an embarrassing loss.
I have defended Miles a lot through the years, and I was always comfortable with the fact that he recruited well and hired solid coordinators (for the most part). But my patience and loyalty is running very very thin, especially when you consider the amount of talent we have. Young or experienced, we have the talent. The "young talent" excuse holds no water with me, as there are several teams out there with true freshmen who have played like seasoned vets, under the right coaching. oh, and the stubborn play calling makes me absolutely sick. Insanity..... Les, look it up because you are living it old man.
I know ...it was to point out the D wasn't on the field too long but not capable of stopping MSU giving up the long scoring drives. They weren't gassed just beaten.
I absolutely agree with everything you said. I was very happy for the Tigers to be in a position to potentially win the game with 20 seconds left but I was extremely unhappy about the way the team preformed in the prior 59:40. One thing I haven't noticed anyone comment on, though, was the officiating. Yeah, it's the SEC and we're all used to shitty officiating. But it seemed like Day (MSU's center) got a complete pass all game long. In addition to the two non-calls on the stomps, he had at least one holding call on Shepard's 56 yard TD in the second half that wasn't called. But the most flagrant offense happened after the bad snap. Cameras showed Day on the sidelines putting his knee braces back on over his pants preparing to come back into the game. He took the field like that. And I went nuts, yelling at the TV. That's a direct, observable violation of the rules. Here's the relevant quote from the NCAA 2013-2014 Football Rule Book: Granted the penalty is only a loss of a timeout and removal of the player until the braces are properly placed, but it still showed a lack of attention to detail that seemed to plague that crew when it came to Day.
For once I have no complaints about the zebras. I have seen a lot worse and when you get bitch slapped like that it really doesn't matter
@Bengal B I hear ya and I don't have specific complaints either (except for that blatant holding) but the equipment violation coupled with the rest of the shit Day got away with shows the officials -- and specifically the umpire (who is charged with calling equipment violations) -- weren't paying attention. Would it have changed anything? Very likely not. But it does chap my ass a bit.
Me either. I was relieved when I saw the referee who's name escapes me, Tom something, was calling the Bama - Gator game.
