Yes they had one and it might have helped us actually, although I think we may have been declared the champ of we tired them since we won the series but I'm not sure. Of course they might have lost that game too.

Katz was named SEC Player of the Week by the SEC and Offensive Player of the week by the LSWA for his performance this week:

hit .368 in four games this week, including 2 home runs, 7 RBI, and 5 runs

hit .357 in the series @South Carolina, including a home run in Game 1 and had 2 RBI in LSU's 3-2 victory in Game 3, including what proved to be the series-winning and SEC title-clinching RBI single in the 10th inning

Katz also caught the final out:

“When Mason Katz [caught] that last popup, it’s just a feeling that’s hard to describe, because you know how much was put into it,” Mainieri said, “from all the workouts with (strength and conditioning coach) Jeremy Phillips and the strength and conditioning program and how hard the kids worked in school.

“They listened, they followed directions, they believe in you as a coaching staff and they believe in each other and they stick together, and it ends up culminating with that ball landing in Katz’s glove and you’re SEC champions.”

“I’m just so proud of the guys,” he said. “Saying you’re so proud of them seems so inadequate. It’s beyond words I can even use to describe how I feel. It’s just fantastic.”
