Deep down, I am hoping for a HUGE day thru the air. I hope our WR's expose the hell out of their secondary and make J-Lee's life pretty easy! They cant run with our WR's & do not makle great open field tackels, therefore if we can get the ball to RS & RR on bubble screens and short passes across the middle they could turn those into big gains. Also, some wheel routes & screen passes with SR & SW out of the backfield As for the running game, I am not opposed to a 2 back system, shove some SR down their throat then put the little guy in there MF to show off his speed an ability to get thru tight spaces. We need to open things up, and the 1st game we open things up and actually looked good on offense last season, just happened to be a big win over none other than Auburn.
BUT - There is still the question - Who's luck is about to run out? Both of these teams have gotten by some close ones, who's streak ends, and who's streak continues?? Is it Auburns Offense or LSU's Defense??
Ever hear of a champion who one with just offence. Luck is for the offence, on defense you have to flat out play, because you don't know wher the ball is going. Ask yourself what would you rather have a great defense or a great offence, then ask most coaches.
Sorry guys, but my confidence isn't very high. I'm not sure what LSU team shows up: The one that played UT, McNeese, the 1st Half against Vandy, etc? Or, the team that played in the Swamp, or the 1st 20 minutes against WVU or the 1st half against UNC. Also, we shoot ourselves in the foot too many times to beat the really good teams. I think Auburn is really good. We've gotta stop turning the ball over and giving our opponent easy points. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I am not arguing that I would rather have a great Defense, I have said that all year, LSU may be boring to the rest of the world, but Our Defense is exciting to watch!!! What was Texas Defense ranked when they won it all in 2005?
Very valid post, and something that is definitley sitting in the back of my mind. I am not wearing my LSU goggles this week. I am worried & confident at the same time, I feel almost like a skitzo
LSU wins because Lee has a great game keeping the AU defense honest. LSU loses because Miles keeps pulling Lee and putting in JJ.
LSU wins because they play a complete game- Offense, Defense and Special Teams. LSU loses because Auburn is really good, LSU is not as good as our purple and gold glasses tell us, and LSU has 2/3 turnovers and 8-10 penalties.
This. We need to create turnovers in this one to hush their crowd and make it as easy as possible for the offense. This game will come down to big plays and special teams, something not many people have been mentioning. They have been good recently at not letting their opponents start with good field position so if Peterson can get us to the 35-40 consistently with a few chances to break one, I'd have to favor our chances.
WVA, NC, Florida are very good teams, don't kid yourself. Last time I checked we won. You could argue that our schedule has been tougher than theirs to this point.
