The view from Houston (from my eyes) Totally screwed the pooch on replacing Miles. Did not have the pieces in place. I know some give him a pass with the politics card but he should have seen that coming and had it covered. It's Louisiana. I blame him for the Chief contract fiasco. Which contributed to last years mess. And even though it wasn't here - the Duke thing bothers me. AND I've always thought he's a dick
I was fine with what happened to the Chief - turns out *that* dude was a dick. The Miles thing, I don't know how to feel. It seems like he really wanted to do it and maybe was finally like, "y'all aren't going to let me do it, I'm going to do it anyway and break shit loudly in the process, go ahead and try to stop me." If that's how it went down, I'm in the anarchist's corner, same as politics. As far as Duke, I never educated myself on it and find it queer that so many have. Not like gay, just odd.
Well it was fairly big news, covered nationally. He suspended a bunch of lacross players, made a big hoopty doo about an "alegeded" rape or sexual assault before any of the facts had been discovered. Turns out the players didn't do anything.
You are getting like me. I told myself in the 90s not to expect too much and you are not going to get disappointed. Set expectations at the beginning of a season. Revisit them at the end. That's why I wasn't holding at pitchfork at the end of last football season. I expected 3 or 4 losses. While it still sucked the way it went down. At the end of the day we were right where I expected us to be. Next year, anything more than 1 loss and a spot in the playoff and it may be time to move on.
What I want to know is how much of this budget crisis played into Miles being replaced. Didn't the powers that be speak to Jindal and Edwards?
You know when you think about it there is a pattern between the Duke issue and Miles ouster. He was premature in his judgements on when to act.
I'm good with Chief gone - especially now with our latest new guy. But it just feels like it was handled wrong - like the Miles thing.
