Why is it that almost every game these days seems to be some kind of referendum on which conference is stronger. At times it seems to be emphasized more than the two teams on the field themselves. 10 years ago you didn't hear much at all about how one conference stacked up against another. 30 years ago I don't think the idea even existed. It just seems way overblown to me and the constant bickering back and forth on the internet and now on ESPN etc. is just tired and pointless. I heard something about a bowl championship series where some conference is going to be awarded bowl conference champions or something like that.

I don't understand it all either, as long as LSU is in the NC game and at the top of our conference, I have no problem admitting the ACC is the best conference, it's pretty easy to see.

Yea, but it is kinda nice to think the conference as a whole is the best. I particularly like it when the jock sniffers have to eat their words.

Well here in Orlando, it is a good discussion because number one orlando is a melting pot of people and backgrounds and number two even without the people tht move here with the thug u and F$U fans around the conference thing becomes big.

I see it as something that has transcended the games. And, like a few here, don't see the point of even discussing it.

    I might add this...

It started years ago and was fueled by the basketball season, as I see it. Heck, I'm thinking back to Dean Smith's time at UNC when we heard the telecasters talk about how the ACC was the strongest basketball conference in the NCAA. I didn't necessarily disagree with them, but rather thought they were just looking for something to fill the time versus having dead air. (about like the Fox broadcasters were last night with their comments about Hawai'i)

I don't mind it, it makes for good discussion. It's one more thing that makes college football unique.

Infinitely so! I'm getting better and better at just tuning the guys out. With SAP why can't they offer an audio feed that is just crowd noise? Or maybe just an audio feed from the stadium announcers...at least, they get the names right 95% of the time!

Glad I didn't have to pronounce some of those Hawaiian names, you know like Rivers, Brennan, Hawthorne, and Kelly. :hihi:
