Let's analogize a little bit: In about 1890, somewhat released from the shackles of Reconstruction, the southern states began a systematic process of deliberate disenfranchisement and political oppression of black people, which came to be known in history books as the "Jim Crow era" (Coincidental to this analogy I'm constructing, but not critical to it, during that time a number of statues were erected across the South, memorializing the nobility of the fight to keep black people enslaved.) That's undeniable history. Now, here's the analogy part... Under common present apologist logic, we should never have repealed those Jim Crow laws during the Civil Rights era because those were HISTORY and erasing offensive bits of history constitutes a slippery slope that will lead to the repeal of ALL laws, even sensible ones.
It really isn't just about statues. It's about a focused and specific effort to eradicate certain things within society and establish others. It becomes even more clear when I read an LA Times article this morning about a member of the black student union at USC who is attempting to tie our mascot to Robert E Lee's horse who had the same name. Never mind that they weren't spelled the same or that they have nothing to do with each other, anything the left can do to create an issue where there is none is part of the plan. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-usc-traveler-20170818-story.html
What an absolute crock of steaming shit! Yes education these days is very "enlightening". Yes courses in "White privilege" and the shutting down of debate of the earths climate, allowance of "safe spaces" where free speech is prohibited, Evergreen State College decision to make white students leave for a day, Trinity College allowing sociology professor John Williams to call white people "inhuman assholes", and not allowing conservatives speeches on campuses and on and on oh yes that is very "enlightened". You enlightened? The monkey below is more enlightened than you.
Speaking of fear of intellectualism, we should all remember, or at least learn, that correlation does not imply causation.
Do tirk's and ducks sigs or avatars throw you off too? (not to) OK, tirk is the self appointed grammar police. I've always hate when people did that but sometimes your spelling and grammar are an affront to the English language, Reading your posts sometimes is like talking to some Indian or Pakistani when I have to call customer service. Duck corrects your errors too. Doesn't it tell you something when 3 different posters coming from 3 different viewpoints all have to correct you?
