Ah Forgive me TigerKid05. I meant to say I'm not AS worried about the running game. I'm a little discouraged this morning because I bought some Lehman Bros stock Friday taking a gamble that a deal would be worked out this weekend. Oh well. I guess I'll have to work more OT. But I am worried that teams will try to shut the running game down forcing the QB to throw. So that is the extent of my worry.
I'm not saying he isn't good. He is better in the open field than Hester, but after contact, he isn't as good as Hester. In the tough 3 yards after the hit Scott isn't Hester. The 4th down and short we went for against UF last year, wouldn't have been made by Scott. I'm not saying his average is bad or he isn't as good as Hester, I'm just saying he isn't as good as Hester in getting the last 3 yards after contact. I'm not bashing Scott at all. Everybody has their own style. I do like to watch Scott run though.
I've seen Scott shake about three or four tackles in each of his long runs so far this season, and he's gaining in his confidence to do so. It stands to reason that he'll routinely shake one or two in SEC play. He reminds me of 2004 Alley Broussard.
Hell, the only guy NOT running hard consistently is KW, and he actually did run hard on a couple of attempts Sat night. Ridley looks promising. And that bulldozing by Quinn Johnson was a highlight clip made to order!
im just not expecting there to be many holes. god, i hope im wrong. hopefully at least by the 4th the OL will wear them down.
I fully expect Scott to only improve with experience. He moves very well for his size and is like trying to tackle a barrel. I think he'll punish some defenses if we have any semblance of a passing game.
I was confused that Phelon Jones was in on the very first defensive play of the game. I didn't remember him in that early against App. State. Well, that NT QB picked on him early and often it seemed.
He took over McCray's nickelback position since McCray was out with an injury. He had some struggles, but for his first start playing UNT's offense (which is a big test for a nickelback), I thought he did pretty well. McCray should be back for this weekend, so it really doesn't matter.
