Speilman said LSU has possibly the best O-line in the nation, and hands down have the best D-line in the country. This is why with all the questions we posed, we demolished a decent Appy St. team.
Yes, plus CScott and our overall team speed. Agree with most other posts regarding the obvious dismal punting, spotty secondary play, and QB concerns. I think if we focus on our strengths on off., run the ball behind our excellent O-line, and get smart QB play (clearly Hatch will be the guy for this), and the defense becomes more consistent in the secondary, we will be there at the end to challenge for the NC again. I was fairly impressed with the first half; the intensity we showed running the ball on offense, and hitting on defense was fantastic.
I just rewatched the game and I have to say, even though Hatch's arm isn't impressive (We need to put this boy in the weight room tmw!), I actually feel BETTER about him starting. He showed poise, good game management and it seemed like the team supports him. I was impressed by his running ability (better than what was advertised earlier this year). Also I think when you looked at his eyes, he had a confidence about him. Lee looked more wide-eyed. In the preseason I was with CP in thinking that Lee would take over 2 - 3 games into the season, I no longer believe that. I personally think this is Hatch's ship to steer. Lee showed he can throw the ball deep. That's it. Game management, team management, leadership, he looked confused on play calling and he gave away plays on passing. What I'd like to know is exactly how much did they hold back for in this game? The Auburn game will be the true tell of how well this team will compete.
Special Teams : Agree Offense: Think some of that will work out. They don't have to be heisman caliber for the Tigers to dominate. Just can't make too many mnistakes. Defense: Only a few times, they covered ASU receivers better than anyone has in years. ASU offense averages over 400 yards a game. They shut down a very potent offense.
There is only one message board that has said LSU can repeat , that board gives LSU only 1% chance to do that .I think this team can do it , we have as I understand from reading in here . Not one but 3 quaterbacks , each has something the others don't have . This can be a fun team to watch . Talk about change , the def will have to be ready for three different type QB's .I think LSU did good , it was a top 5 performance .Georgia will lose 2 games this year , the Gators will lose 2 maybe 3 , LSU and Tennessee will be a rematch I called it last year and I am calling it again . LSU and Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game The def did not seem to be a wyld as the def was last year , but stopped a great qb .
Sorry, Mr. Tennessee fan. I think both schools are going to have their hands full just getting out of their division, and Tennessee has a long hard row to hoe to get past Georgia and Florida. It could happen, but I ain't betting the farm on it.
did the qbs never check of a primary wr because the receivers were always open or because the qbs dont know what theyre doing?. with almost ZERO pressure on them, i wouldve thought it was a great opportunity to check down. many of lsu's opponents will be able to blanket the primary WR on many plays and get to the qb----not a nice thought considering what the qbs did in the game. for now, just gotta have faith that two more tune-ups are enough.
didn't see either QB throw the sideline pass, either. Locked into their primary rec. and never looked off the def backs. But that's expected, we've got time (2 more games, hopefully) and we've got plenty to work on, but the tools are there. Let's just let the coaches and players develop. Paitence, let's just have paitence, young grasshoppers!!
Scott was very impressive - he looks like he's ready to be a regular feature in the offense and that he can, indeed, carry the load. (I was surprised, however, to see him caught from behind on that first play.) I wonder if the Tigers will become an old-school running team with just enough flash and passing to keep the defenses honest? With that O-Line, it just might work! All in all, things were clicking very nicely in the first half. The experience gained by subs in the second half was a great investment in the teams future - this year and for years to come. Someone above mentioned this, but CLM does have a knack for getting his teams prepared. Tigers always seem to have a fine game plan and that must give the team confidence. (It would inspire me to do what I'm told, I know that much!) Worst thing is obviously the punting. I don't know why LSU can't attract a world-class punter! I do have confidence in CLM to find a solution, but something must be done to correct the current situation. ldskule:
