Yeah, well the stats are starting to have some meaning behind them. After Georgia, they'll have a lot of meaning. The bad news is that we're still DEAD last in total offense in the SEC and it isn't even close. Whatever is happening there, the coaches aren't getting the most out of all the talent we have. 105th in the nation??? Not good... We're tied for DEAD last in sacks as well. The fact that we haven't had ONE sack in the last two games against MSU (who doesn't have a real mobile QB) and The Cajuns is startling. That QB had almost no pressure on him at all yesterday when he should have because he was turnover-prone. Our blitz package is nonexistent from what I can see. I see a few people that said we blitzed many times on Saturday, but I just didn't see it. I saw some fake blitzing, but that was about it. Whatever it is, it is an absolutely ineffective package right now. Let's hope we start seeing some effective pressuring of QBs. It would make our D a LOT better and tougher. The GOOD news is that Georgia's numbers are very similar to ours and worse in some key areas. Georgia is DEAD last in turnover margin and 115th in the nation. LSU is tied for first in the SEC in 5th in the nation. That is huge. Georgia only averages 2 points more than us per game , but gives up 14 points more on D each game. Their scoring D is 95th and they're ranked lower than us in rushing offense. They are also tied with us for last place in sacks. So Georgia is similar to us in many areas and we hold a big edge on a key part of the game (turnovers). We should have a very fair chance at winning this game if our play stays true to the stats. However, if Jordan Jefferson starts turning the ball over or if we start fumbling, etc., then turn out the lights. The big keys for us winning so far with our style of play has been our ability to take care of the ball while causing costly turnovers of D. If that changes and everything else stays the same, we're in trouble the rest of the way. Saturday will say a lot. It should be exciting. Go Tigers!
Gaining 310 yards of offense per game Giving up 333 yards of offense of game Our record should be flipped around so we better find the identity of this team sometime this week because we could lose a lot of games if things stay this way
compare uga to lsu pass eff O---uga by a little pass eff D---lsu way up rushing O (yds/rush)--same rushing D (yds/rush)--same turnover margin --lsu +7, uga -9
Why, Gumboree...where have you been? :hihi: These are actually positive stats that make me feel pretty good about our chances...especially the T/O margin.
What are the stats for the teams we've already played? If you don't take any stock into our own stats you should at least consider a combination of our own and the teams we've played. Looking at the games (in person and tv) and stats combined should have people worried about this season. I am not a "sky is falling" kind of guy but I'm certainly concerned. Even if you take out the stats our team looks hopped up on qualudes or something. I sure hope Coach Miles has been holding the leash tight and then lets loose this weekend. :geauxtige
