Hey guy, my comment was just a little rebuttal to your San Jose St., Ghosts, numerous recent coaches, kind of humor. The first one was really quite funny, the second one still was kinda amusing, but that third one started to remind me of "hawk eye football lore." It ain't that bad, truth is if you count Rose bowl wins for Iowa, you can still spell BAMA,
Don't feel bad, neither one of us gets to spell UTAH. Hey, I was at Bama's only win over Notre Dame ... Legion Field in '86... rooted for you guys, too (had to, I was a guest of the Bruno family!!) Also, got to go to the game in '87 at South Bend... all in good fun... was also at the Bama/Auburn game... first one played @ Auburn... can't remember the exact year, but it was right around the '87/88 seasons. My son is an Auburn grad, hasn't been quite right since he got out of there.
Och, Notre Dame, Utah, Auburn home games. Not much to write home about for Bama. Though Cornelius Bennett laid a nice lick on Steve Beuerlein in Bama's only win. 1989, first Auburn game. Sorry about your son's choice, I live near Auburn, and even now, I wonder if the fog will ever lift. Just kidding, I got lots of Auburn friends around here.
Moving the game with G. State up to Thursday should help you against AU. I think bama is the only team we get a rest before playing. Good that y'all have a chance to gather yourself before the game. But then, AU playing the rest of the schedule without a break is pretty daunting itself. Especially when 7 of the teams facing AU will play a FCS team the week before they play AU. What is worse, playing a team coming off a bye and broken rhythm or one with a "tune up" game that the regulars rest, the other players get some experience, and the coaches tweak and scheme? In reality, all schedules are tough. And that is what makes the SEC great.
I agree, having 8 days to get ready for Auburn is much better than 5, especially with your 14 days to prepare and get rested. Frankly I have always gotten this rivalry through the decades as well as most, but if it's me, I'm not running an 11 games in a row schedule just to get an edge with Bama. This league is too physical not to get a break at least by the last third of the season. Before this 12 game format everyone usually had two bye weeks to put where they felt it did the most good. Now, it's turned into a marathon and a half. The SEC will probably do y'all a favor next year, when they balance these bye's through the league. I'd rather have the bye then play Ga. St. Auburn looked like they had two weeks to scheme their offense last year (did you think you played out of rhythm in that game) and we looked like we had five days to figure it out. Depth ends up being the key to most of this. If Bama develops that, we'll be OK.
Even though your Gumpness shines threw this post, like most of yours do, I do have to give you props on sounding somewhat unbias and objective. Maybe we are starting to have an affect on you.opcorn:
You mean like how you got the bye before playing us last year? Good thing those officials were well rested too. Everybody is really feeling for you.
of course they were. its much easier to sleep at night when your retirement account just got fatter. :rolleye33:
You kidding me, every time I watch national geographic, I get this incredible urge to order Cajun. Which tells me there is a very fine line between a hobby and mental illness. I'm just trying to put the fun, in fundamentally bias. I think you would have to agree when debating this gump, that on most points of view, I'm emotionally swimming in an ocean of purple and gold. Helping Tiger nation get past these "feelings." is starting to feel like Freud's definition of insanity. Come on Folks, it's already July.
