Montoya has been dominant in far more sophisticated forms of racing. Glad to see him get a Busch series win. Nextel cup is next.
If he wins a cup race, its going to be on a road course. But in order to do that he is going to have beat Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon who both refuse to race in Mexico. Those two have basically owned the road courses in the cup series.
Not too mention Robby Gordon as well. He doesn't run worth a crap the rest of the season, but he always seems to be in contention for at least a top 10 on a road course. And of course all the other road course specialists, most of which ran yesterday anyway.
Montoya is a GREAT driver. It shouldn't surprise people who follow racing if he does well in NASCAR. He has won the two biggest races outside of NASCAR (Indy 500 and Monaco Grad Prix).
When D.E. Sr. did such things, he was called "great". Also, nobody criticized the other guy for cutting him off at the last second. Did you see how far right he went all of a sudden in the turn?
It's a close one to call, but you don't take out your teammate, period. Brian Vickers found that out last year. He now has new teammates!:hihi:
I'm sure he didn't need to take out his teammate. NA$CAR would have made sure there was team orders for Montoya to win. They are only racing in Mexico to generate a fan base, and what better way to do it than have one of the fan favorites there win...:yelwink2:
