Anybody remember the extreme vote of confidence Les Miles gave to Colt David in giving him a chance at a 57 yarder to win the Kentucky game?

And he came oh so close (one for the age for sure, if he had made it).

From that point on, he has been nails (no misses, I am fairly certain).

I am getting VERY comfortable watching this young man kick. Doesn't hurt that teams don't rush up field to block it, instead choosing to defend against a potential fake. We can thank Coach Miles for that.

No doubt. He has been the lone bright spot on special teams this year, other than Hollaway...oh, I'm sorry Holliday's return today.

My one question is this: He attempted the 57 yarder against UK which he missed wide. He had about 5-10 yards to spare on that kick.

Why is he not kicking off?

I believe Miles said earlier this week that the mechanics in kicking off are pretty different that kicking FG's and he likes where Colt is now as a FG kicker and doesn't want to screw anything up... and we have plenty of kickers to kick off anyway. I think it's a pretty good idea.

I was absolutely shocked when Colt BARELY missed that UK kick. I didn't think he could kick beyond 45, let alone 57. Now that I know he has the power, I don't mind him kicking long FG's especially now that he has shown he has accuracy beyond 40.

Great post I shouted Colt's praises several times during todays game. I think that he definitely has more confidence than before, probably due to that vote of faith from CLM.

It was said in another thread this past week that Colt David plays with too much emotion which may affect his play. Early in the season he tended to beat himself up over his attempts. It is clearly evident that coaching has brought that notion to a complete stop. This kid now has the confidence to go along with that leg. I wonder his abilities with a wind behind him! I also believe he deserves more points in the weekly Fantacy League for kicks beyond 45!:thumb:

Yes. And don't forget he is now a CBS Hereo of the Fall for his game winning field goal against Ole Miss last season.:hihi:

I was thinking about this earlier. He has really been great since UK game. He has a very strong leg and has been so accurate. It is great to have a kicker with confidence going into the last stretch of games.

    Way to go Colt!!!

I think I have a new all-time favorite kicker with the name David.
My original favorite was David Browndyke and the new one is Colt David!
