First off, congrats to the tigers. What an awesome game, standing outside the gates in left was more fun than ever. :geaux:

In 2004 I had the means and opportunity to make Omaha, but decided not to go. I always said that I would make the next one, and this summer works out pretty well.

With that said, now I need to get my plans together, and quickly! I really thought they gave teams a week off between the super and CWS! I have heard tickets are available there, and shouldn't be bad to get (Except the championship). Is that true?

What about hotels? From the same source of the ticket info, I have heard that after the first couple of days the hotels will empty a bit out and a bed should be available, but those first two days are a pain.

Is staying outside of town and driving in a possibility? How close would we be able to stay? Thinking about bringing my sleeping bags and tent, but having a shower would definitely be a plus.

    Thanks in advance! :tigbas:

when we went in 05 we stayed in lincoln. a bit of a drive, but since we were staying all day and going to all the games we could, it didnt matter a whole lot.

general admission bleacher seats should not be that difficult to get, but be prepared to stand in line. as soon as the gates open the bleachers will start filling up. if you want to go to all the games and have the gen admission tickets, when you leave one game, plan to get right back in line fairly early. once the bleachers are full, there is no getting in, even if you have gen admission tickets.

parking is a pain in the posterior, but within a few blocks from the stadium is a lot of private property parking.

in 05, nebraska was there, which made tix a lot harder to get, and the lines for general admission a lot longer. in the mornings, you can stand in line for a chance to upgrade your general admission tix to grandstand reserved tix. but there are only so many and once they are gone, they are gone. depending on where you are in the line, you may not even get the opportunity to upgrade. that is another line to get in early if you want to upgrade. the scalpers also have people standing in line. those people get there early and gobble up the grandstand tickets and then turn around and scalp them. however the bleacher seats are good, so the grandstand seats arent necessary.

    go! and have fun!

I hate lines. Can you drink in these lines? Along that "line" of thought, what are the open container rules there?

You said you have to park a good ways away. I think we were planning on going to LSU games and watching the others from tailgating or make some that interest us. Is there a spot where people tailgate or is it spread all over?

    Thanks for the fast response!

i dont know much about parking and tailgating except that we had to find private property parking a ways away from the stadium. i was there with greenie and tulane had a large tent that we had a pass to so we hung out there a lot and did all our eating, drinking, and partying there.

i hate lines too. with a passion. it seems that i spent a hell of a lot of time in those lines, but in the end it was worth it. (although it was annoying and frustrating at the time.) i would get into the line to try to get upgrades to the grandstand, and greenie would get in the general admission line so we could be assured of bleacher seats. if i got grandstand upgrades, i would call him so he could leave his line. if not, i would run and find him in the general admission line and join him.

i dont know about their open container laws. i dont drink so i didnt even bother to notice. sorry i cant help you with that.

I lived in Omaha for 4 years and now live about 4 hours away. Check hotels in Council Bluffs, IA. There are a few casinos there. It is about a 5 minute drive to the stadium. Also check hotels in Gretna, NE. It is between Lincoln and Omaha and is fast growing

Drinking there is not a problem, just put it in a cup. Around the stadium they are pretty relaxed.

Tickets--there are general admission tickets that are books of 10. They can all be used in one session or used individually. GA is first come first serve but shouldn't be too much of a problem. The California teams do not travel, Miami doesn't bring a lot. It will be mostly LSU with a good showing from Georgia, FSU, and UNC. LSU side of bracket has UNC,Rice, and Fresno ST. Rice and Fresno St won't bring a lot.
Reserved seats are tougher but not impossible. I got 6 already today just through locals. LSU's first game is session 4 if you are looking. Tickets in general are usually easy to get especially with Nebraska not being there. I had good luck getting tickets the night before games in bars.

Barretts Barleycorn has always been an LSU hangout when the Tigers are in town. They will usually run specials for Tiger fans.

I grew up in Louisiana and being a Tiger fan in Omaha was always a great thing.

If you get there early (Thurs) Des Moines is 2 hours away and The NCAA Track and Field Championships are there. As you know LSU is #1 in men's and womens right now.

A lot of folks might be interested to know that you can go to a TRUCK STOP with your toiletries and pay a small fee for use of a shower (which includes a towel.) The facility sometimes offers soap and shampoo as part of the deal. Some of the facilities are really nice and a great way to catch a shower when you are on the road, camping or whatever.

Just a little "Road Warrior" info that I've accumulated over the years.....:eek:ldskule:
