Since this is originating in PAC country, here's something to chew on a bit. Cal: Revenue last year- $91,247,489 Expenses last year- $110,558,630 Arizona: Revenue last year- $95,867,717 Expenses last year- $103,329,464 These are two programs in the top 50 in revenue for the last fiscal year. It's something that hits close to home as well. There's an Ole Miss program that was in the red to the tune of about six million last fiscal year. It's not as cut and dried as it's made out to be.
So with that I would say it puts more mud into the water. While (insert school here) may be losing money, cfb as a whole isn't. Someone is pulling in piles of cash. So if Cal or any other is under water then where is the money coming from to pay the players? Hmmm? This is the grandfather's grandfather of shitty ideas.
Under the new law any money used to pay a player won't come from the school. It would come from person or company that wants to pay a particular player for an endorsement or an autograph f00tball or whatever. Even though Cal or another school might be losing money the school would be unaffected by any money the players received. The money would come from Nick's Mercedes or Bubba's BBQ or Nike or even you if you wanted to buy a Jalen Hurts autographed football or jersey.
How s0? If Joe Burrow makes a few bucks from a commercial what's the harm? Ja'Marr Chase Keeps his Money in Chase National Bank
Who is going to keep track of it? The shit is strictly forbidden now to the point where even a meal or a ride is against the rules yet it goes on everywhere. Imagine what happens when Pandora opens her box! Yes, I realize I've just named an AVN award winner but what the hell.
Forrest Gump always orders the Pandora's box at KFC because it's like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.
