The schools with rabid fanbases and rich boosters will rise to the top. So, not much will change. This is a very market-oriented reform that empowers the individual while the collectivist organization protests. IDK there is a lot unknown here. So the name players will get paid but what about the 3rd string tackle? What about non revenue and women’s sports? Under this most get squat. I can see a movement to bring “equity” to athlete’s income using Title 9 or some other avenue. How is this going to be regulated, or is it? Even Texas and Texas A&M don’t have unlimited funds. How old is Phil Knight? He won’t be around forever and will his heirs be so generous? I know the law and discussion is about being paid for likeness etc but don’t think it will stop there. I do see the death of college sports as we know it.
I know this is a little bit off subject but does this open the door for EA Sports to bring back NCAA Football?
