Question for you Red. 12 regular season games. At least 2 game the big conference schools pay the team to get their ass drilled. How much is that worth to have 12 games?
Guys, I wondered if Miss St. reached their level of composure. Not looking like they know how to play the football game.
LSU must have at least 7 home games to cover costs of playing football at this level. That takes scheduling a couple of teams that don't require a return trip. You like having a top-pay coach and a top-attendance stadium and top-notch strength, medical, and academic facilities? Those cupcake teams are what pay for it.
Really? What is the typical payout? $400K, $500K? Those games are not typically sellouts. I guess I have in my mind that those games are not a big money day. They aren't on a big network. They aren't sold out. Is it more the fact that LSU doesn't have the travel expense for the 12th game? Why play the extra game? I guess the money comes in somehow.
I think they pay a lower division team like Sam Houston or McNeese about $400K. For ULM or other second tier D1 teams its up to about $750K. There is a lot of competion to schedule those teams willing to exchange a beatdown for a paycheck. I read earlier this year that Southern got paid $250K to play some lower level D1 team and they paid some team from an even lower conference than SWAC $50K to come to Baton Rouge and play at Mumford.
The tickets are almost all sold. Its just that a lot of season ticket holders stay home for those games but LSU still has their money.
