People question the committee member selections but I like that they are outside of the politicking of the coaches. Alabama politicked their way into the game in 2011.
I sort of agree. I would just like to see a little more of an objective view. Take well, FSU. Their best win is Clemson who is getting drilled by GA Tech at the moment. Undefeated-check, "major conf" - check, top 4 in the country? No way. They will get their doors blown off.
I am pretty sure an athletic director would have just as much pull, if not more than a coach if they wanted to get their team in. Jeff Long, Chair Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, University of Arkansas-Fayetteville Barry Alvarez Director of Athletics, University of Wisconsin-Madison Pat Haden Director of Athletics, University of Southern California Oliver Luck Director of Athletics, West Virginia University Tom Osborne Former Head Coach and Director of Athletics, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Dan Radakovich Director of Athletics, Clemson University These guys have a little of conflict of interest still. Yea Yea I know it would be tough to find people 100% unbiased. To me that is another reason to have more teams and then prove it on the field.
Right. And no one on the planet can name more than 1 or 2 schools. No one cares about that. To make it work with the bowls and to ensure that the regular season games still mean something I think you have to cap it at 8. 10 at the absolute most.
I am for 8 but not automatically qualifying the conference champions. If an SEC team is better than a one loss Big 10 Champion they should get in. Both Baylor and TCU would deserve to be there if they both win out. I wouldn't object to 16 but that puts a big burden on the fans who want to travel to the games. Even with 8 they should play the first round games at the home field of the higher seeds. Even now with 4 a lot of people are going to have to decided to go buy tickets and make travel plans for a semifinal game or wait to see if their team wins and makes the finals. Only the fat cats can afford to go to both and take the time off work and they can probably write it off as a "business trip." And I must be the only one on the planet that can name more that 2. I can think of 5 or 6.
