Was listening to ESPN radio and they were saying the UT and ATM to the Pac - 10 isn't a sure thing, that the board of regents is currently talking to the SEC. Were also pointing out that due to geographic location the SEC makes way more sense for them than the Pac whatever. I think we add them FSU and VT or GT and the SEC would stay on top and no one could catch us no matter who they add. Making the SEC a 16 team Super Conference with 10 super power teams.
I think this may become impossible. There will be a chasm between the haves and have-nots, but it may not necessarily stay where it is in the current SEC. Do we know that the SEC can sustain 10 powers? I mean, somebody's gotta lose, after all. I think it would be more likely that 8 or the 16 teams would remain national powers.
Anyone take note of how Texas was just fine with the academics of the Big 12, with Oklahoma Sate, Kansas St, Nebraska, Tex Tech, OU, etc.... But say they are to strong academically to join the SEC? Sorry, I am not buying that argument. The fact is they want to be the big dog....period. And in the Pac 10 East they would only have OU still, along with AZ state, UofA, UC, TT, OSU, and ATM. Not much tougher than it is currently. The SEC would be brutal for them and they know it. Screw them! I would be happier if we had just ATM and OU.
aTm & TX are speaking today about where they want to go. aTm wants to go SEC (my understanding is they have asked to join SEC) and TX wants Pac-10. Gov Perry has requested they talk it out; however, the TX legislature will make final call.
I've been told that the SEC is looking at aTm and Va Tech joining. Only teams that will increase exposure of markets. I like TCU based on Dallas exposure. Not sure they would be any better than a Ole Miss.
i'm not in favor of expansion but these would be my two teams to choose. don't hear much from the ACC or SEC do we? louisville and TCU would be my next choices (non ACC of course).
I think ATM and VT fit well. If not them I would say FSU would have to be on the list, along with Clemson. Pull Vandy and UT to the West and we are set.
The problem with FSU and Clemson is they do not provide anything the SEC doesn't already have in TV market.
