At times it looks like they could write these books 2 days before the first game and still be out of touch. The Sporting News has Larry Coker as the Head Coach for UTSA and UTEP, gonna be fun to see when these two teams play on Oct.25, wonder what sideline he will man?
Some CFB fans & writers will be dissing Les when he is enshrined in the CFB hall of fame. They'll point out his mistakes and gloss over all of his accomplishments. They'll say just because he was the most successful coach in Tiger history it doesn't mean he is a great coach. Les will have competed against the best division and conference in history while building a great resume but many people will put coaches he beats ahead of him. I won't.
His mistake in the OM game was bad enough. Trying to avoid blame was awful. But all can be forgiven. The one thing that will continue to bug me, is his failure to give Lee a chance in the CS game. It might not have helped, but it could not have hurt. Last chance, maybe. But I feel like he just might have cost LSU a title if he had changed early enough. Not like using Lee was like giving up.
We will all wonder about that for many years, the younger fans much longer than an old fart like me . Maybe when Les writes his memoir we'll find out.
Col Reb is related to a former LSU QB and his family has season tickets to TS- he allowed me to use them once back in 2007 for the god-awful Peyton Hillis/Dmac show. On second thought, let him have it.
