they were playing real well, too. I had held them as one of my march madness sleepers. i guess the joke is on me. because Vandy isn't interested... AT ALL... in playing defense, so that makes this triple embarrassing. As LSU found out the hard way some years back, it's not over.
off topic but worth posting: any of your new orleans natives going out next Wed to see the No. 1 team in the land dominate Tulane?
I moved here to Nashville 2 years ago and gave up my LSU season tickets replacing them with Vandy Football, Basketball and Baseball. I've enjoyed all three sports here. Even football, the football fans are the polar opposite of the SEC top program fans. Vandy is so conditioned to losing that most of their fans are scared for life. Basketball is great here. This part of the country is much more intense with it's basketball. I love rooting for Vandy in Memorial Gym. Vandy has not been overrated in my opinion. They started SEC play on the road against Flordia, Kentucky and Tennessee with a freshman center from Australia who was visiting opposing arena's for the first time in this country. The team is now happy to be home and is coming together quite well. They will be stronger with most of their remaining SEC games at home now. They will be a dangerous team that no one will want to play in the SEC and NCAA tournaments. Stallings is a complete class act. He is a complete opposite of Brady. He refuses to EVER make excuses for bad play or bad calls. He mans up and talks about preparation and playing hard to win games. Last night against Kentucky was classic Stallings: Vandy's rout of UK even stuns Stallings http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080213/SPORTS0602/802130445/1002/SPORTS Stallings will never give the other team any bulletin board material. Did any of you know he played for Kentucky as a player?
Stallings seems like a great guy and I was fortunate enough to meet him when he was with Coach Williams at Kansas. His style sort of mimics Roy in that they push the ball into a secondary break. But Stallings lets them fire up more threes and if they are on, with the additional possessions they get because of that offense, you will see lots of scores like last night. Definitely exciting to watch.
they won't win it all. the UNLV curse. after playing 15-18 conference games against cupcakes, you won't be able to catch up once the pace picks back up in the dance.
I agree. The game to watch is the Memphis/Tennessee game. Bruce Pearl wants his team to play as many tough road games as possible to get his team ready for the NCAA. Tennessee should win this game by at least 8 points. If Memphis can win the game then I will change my mind and say Memphis will be ready for the NCAA tournament. Bruce Pearl and his players want this game badly. They will be sky high. Can Memphis handle it?
