I live in Myrtle Beach, home of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and I'm no homer to be sure. I enjoy the successes of LSU baseball just like the rest of y'all do. However, I am in the middle of Chanticleer country and although they haven't made it to the CWS, they are a pretty good, consistent team. Being local, I went to the Super Regionals last year and had a ball. They're off to a little bit of a rough start, but I think they'll overcome it. Geaux Tigers!
Do they have 6 CWS Championships in the past 20 years? I know you are not disputing my point but at the start of a college baseball season should Coastal really be ranked ahead of LSU? Ever?
A good example of "what have you done for me lately." I think we should be ranked higher than most of the teams ahead of us, but screw it. All will be right with the college baseball world at the end of June. Till then all the Coastal Carolinas of the world can kiss our rings...all 6 of 'em!
I don't think what LSU did in 1991 or any other team in that decade has anything to do with rankings right now.................if that is the case then why don't we just rank Miami and Nebraska in the top 5 in football next year based on what they did in the 90's. Where they started had a lot to do with how they finished LAST season............who they did not sign, WHO LEFT, you know, things that matter and could have an effect on this SEASON..............but then again, maybe you don't know.
But we've done it consistently for 20 years and are still doing it. TCU, though good, is a newbie to the baseball elite. They haven't earned the right to be ranked ahead of LSU in a pre or early season poll assuming equal records.
C'mon guy (gals too) quit whining about the early season rankings. LSU will play Tiger baseball and the rankings will handle themselves. Based on some of your logic about dominance of the sport is equal to Notre Dame being put in the top 25 rankings of college football year in and year out! We all know that they don't deserve it but just because of the name they are up there year in and year out. (and just for clarity, i know you aren't whining, but just opining) (and yes, opining is a word, don't try and correct my spelling!)
