NFL farm teams wouldn't fly, nobody would care or watch College club sport, flag football, would be more interesting
“damaging themselves permanently” what a rid iujs it sounds to me you are the one that needs to be introduced to the real world. from nfl own website “We estimate that 3.9% of draft-eligible Division I players were chosen in the 2018 NFL draft (251 / 6,451). great odds. Money well spent
yep, let's destroy 150 years of tradition, so the overindulged and pampered 4%,.. get there money sooner I say, let the fatheads who think they're superstars go to the NFL right out of high school,.. the college game would be just as competitive without them
Human nature to hate change, literally deal with it all day everyday at work. Its pretty common to hear these zero sum arguments in these discussions. They changed it, now its ruined and it will go away... It never usually does, usually makes things better. It will not be ruined in the end, changed for sure. Eventually the players will unionize successfully, already tried once, and the NCAA will die or have to change. Just like they did here. But college football will move on, and hopefully those that play it to entertain us will get a piece of the pie. There are huge holes in the system now, like health coverage for injuries that happened while playing.
Really this has nothing to do with tradition, and its an invalid argument. I traditionally speed when I drive, but its never gotten me out of a ticket. Child labor and slavery was a tradition, same arguments were made when abolishing those traditions. Making money from someones likeness and not cutting them in is not a tradition, its just theft. Sorry for the hyperbole, but I thought it made a good point. Football players are employees of the university, and they are students. Why, because football makes the university a shit ton of money. Student-athletes as a tradition is true statement, but that time has passed on and is more of a marketing ploy by the NCAA to keep all their money to themselves IMO. When I was in college I was an employee of the University for 2 years, and I didn't do that shit for free. I got paid.
you're dismissing a college education's value as worthless, going to college is expensive, in debt for thirty years expensive, the athletes we're talking about are getting it free with added perks,.. let the kids get to the pros some other way if they want,.. but if they choose to go to college, accept the scholarship, sign the contract,.. then they should shut up and quit trying to ruin everything. I'm not just going to shrug my shoulders and let college football die,.. it's clear you don't give a shit about college athletics, but I do. I'm going to keep bitching about the stupid changes that are affecting, threatening college sports
