Yeah, the NCAA and colleges are doing just fine lol. And these kids are technically employees of the college, some of them get paid with tuition, but not all of them. And they also entertain us, there is extreme value in what they do and they get a possibility of making some money in the NFL. But again most don't make the NFL. I understand the sentiment, I had 20k in student loans and my daughter has almost 90k 20 years later... it just feels unfair. So I get that thought, but that is projection IMO.
Economics. If you signed a contract and didn’t complete your end then there are consequences. The NCAA should at least refund (maybe not the right word) all more scholarships for those that are given to kids that go pro early. I mean look at basketball a scholarship gets used for someone who is one and done? It kind of sucks for the school and sucks a lot for the fans.
lol, they are making millions at the college level and billions at the conference and NCAA level. The economics is already sound and already so far in the favor of the colleges and NCAA its criminal. You are trying to recoup 10 to 20 grand from a kid because they go pro early... Do you sue ex employees when they quit to get back their pay checks... Your math and logic is just wrong, literally these kids are working 50+ hours to go to school and play football for what, 20k year salary in tuition.
let the kids go to the NFL right out of high school, and see how they do,.. without the training, maturation, and experience, that the college game provides, they won't stand a chance against grown men,.. when they can't cut it and wash-out, then they can dream about how great college would have been, as they mop floors,.. ... or they can go into debt up to their ears, getting a college education like millions of others do,.. after they kill the golden goose which is college football, the stupid shits will have no path to the NFL they are indulged and pampered, but still they whine
not talking about employees I am talking about contracts. also oh please these kids are not working 50+ hours. You are dreaming, some are working their tail off others are out parting just as much. Again what percentage go on and leave early and actually make it and essentially waste an education vs actually make it big? They are getting a free ride which could help others and they don’t even realize or plan to use it a lot of times. This is my beef. I had to/ and am still paying my own way. This is garbage to me. This will make college sports worse . Yes it “is being done” but now they don’t even have to subtle about it.
Well said. You don’t give more to those who are already spoiled. For god sake you guys think any student can use that new player center we just made over there? I know I didn’t get any of that while I was in school and I had to study and have a job.
You are projecting your own shit to these kids, its literally in your writing. Go out there and do some reading on what college athletes days are like, there are some great articles out there. You seem to think that they are living some sort of dream lifestyle, not even the guys that make it to the NFL have it that great. Most are out of the league and forgotten about in a very short time. They are literally damaging themselves permanently to entertain us. Very bitter outlook imo
No, the NFL will just create a minor league and we will have no college football. Not sure who is whining beyond you. Pretty sure the athletes are working fucking hard to win a championship and barely ever whine.
I think people are reading this wrong. Schools will not pay players. The scholarship will still be a very good deal for 98% of athletes. The Leonard Fournette or Zion Williamson type stars will be able to negotiate a fair price for their fame and marketability on their own terms. Which is something we allow every other American to do. Those opposed to this and predicting the demise of college sports resemble those who fought free agency in the 1970s.
Also, you keyboard warriors would last a week living the "coddled" life of a college athlete who is expected to train all the time and keep his grades up.
