If had fumbled would it have counted since it is part of the field of play? I haven't rewatched the game, but someone in class said that SC was using the ref to pick defenders on alot of plays (As has been mentioned) and he probably got tired of it. Linebackers never forget how to tackle, it is like riding a bike!
yes it would have been a fumble. the ref was just feeling the pressure from the dudes closing in behind him and was in no man's land. kinda like when you're walking past someone in the store but cant get out each other's way. not so sure about using the ref as a pick but they were heavily involved that night.
Me too. I have a pretty dirty mind, but I just can't see it. I think the ref was throwing a pick or two, but none of it was intentional. I really liked Miles' response though: "Once you make contact, you gotta wrap up. To be honest, we were a little disappointed with his effort."
Went on to praise LSU on his show today. I though this would make the black helicopter posters in the den piss their pants.
