oh, so this is a Saints thing not really a NOLA thing. I don't believe L.A., NYC, and DC hold the title for murder capital of the world or prison capital of the world. I live in Nola. I am quite aware of our problems. I don't walk around with blinders pretending Nola doesn't have a serious crime problem.
Then by your logic you should be out boycotting NOLA from hosting any more Super Bowls, NCAA finals, or any other sporting event because it's the murder and prison capital of the world. Why stop there? You should lobby for corporations and small businesses who want to open up shop in New Orleans to take their business and their tax dollars elsewhere since it's the murder and prison capital of the world. The same businesses who produce jobs that provide opportunities to lift people out of poverty and out of the life of crime that leads to New Orleans being the murder and prison capital of the world. I'm sure you already understand this, but since you're here to be an argumentative s***-stirrer as usual, I'm not going to play along anymore.
No, I asked you to debate what he said and said I couldn't. It simply was not a lie. He wanted 4 things a place with a lot of hotels, a huge airport, good weather, and safety. He said Nola is not even in the top 15. It is not. He admitted our weather is ok. It is ok if you are use to the heat. I love the heat. Some people don't. The other 3 things I can totally see his point. You simply can't "play along" because you can't debate this. If you don't think Nola is the murder and prison capital of the world I suggest you pick up a newspaper or turn on the television every once in awhile. You should want better for your city. I want better for New Orleans. I want them to rehab the prisoners instead of the sheriffs making money of them. Many built jails to take advantage of the $24.39 per diem the state provides to house an inmate. Sorry, you don't want or expect more from New Orleans.
I started the Mett thread to try to get this forum to look ahead to LSU's future and look how that went.
So what exactly IS your point? Cowherd is right about crime being a big problem in New Orleans, nobody said that isn't true. So we should all lobby for the Pro Bowl to be held in a different city? If the NFL thought they could make more money by holding it elsewhere, they would have, so obviously there is some advantage to having so many big sporting events hosted in New Orleans. My only claim was Cowherd is a troll who derives ratings from saying controversial and stupid things, and that is demonstrably true. Him being right about New Orleans' problems doesn't change that. If you want to engage in do-gooder political activism on behalf of the downtrodden, contact your state rep, I'm sure he'll be happy to hear from you.
Hotels. We have enough for Mardis Gras. Is that not enough for the pro bowl? Huge airport. Irrelevant. It is sufficient for our needs. Drop Denver or LA's airport here and it wouldn't survive as there is not enough traffic to support it. I would much rather fly to/from MSY than LAX or DFW, etc. It takes a LONG time to get around those airports. MSY is big enough to get the Mardis Gras crowds in/out. How is it not going to suffice for the pro bowl? Our weather beats the snot out of a lot of cities. People move to the south during winter because of our weather. He makes it sound like ALL of NOLA is unsafe. That is simply not true. All of us here know where to go and where not to go. He may not have been told where not to go in other cities b/c people aren't as friendly and hope his sorry ass gets mugged. As to location, NOLA is in the middle of the country. Makes perfect sense. HI is the venue that is hard to get to. It is 2400 miles to the CLOSEST NFL city (Los Angeles), whereas NOLA is 2400 miles from the FARTHEST NFL city (Seattle). NOLA has tons to offer and is a great destination. It is silly to give Cowherd credence.
It ain't the murder capital of the world, only the US. Cities like Caracas and Jaurez have much higher murder rates than New Orleans.
