Surprised no one has talked about what I am calling the "smoking gun" statement. Basically Miles had to call the last play because the headset was disconnected. Which tells you all you need to know. Its obvious that all the screw up are on Crowton, period. He's the one who called the crap plays at Ole Miss, he's the one who blew it this week. This guy is incompetent especially given his experience, and record. All I can say is thank God Les got to call the play, who knows what crap play Crowton would have called. (I look at that fade route in 07 against AU in a whole new light now). Bottom line: I was a huge Les apologist, but after Ole Miss for this to happen again it ultimately falls on him. Its time to fix the problem NOW, we didn't drop like games we should have and still have everything for these Seniors to play for. Make the necessary in season adjustments (demote), and show GC the door the moment the clock hits 0:00 in Little Rock, or hopefully ATL. I promise you this, if you remove Crowton and replace him with a competent OC that can coach up QBs (like Jimbo) Les' football game perception IQ would increase exponentially.
Will not happen at 5-0. It's going to take getting blown out with something like 150 yds total offense for Crowton to get canned midseason.
Exactly!!!!!:thumb: GC makes Miles look even less intelligent than he is. Miles doesn't need any help and GC is bringing down the ship. Here is what I believe our biggest problem is, I think Mile's hands are tied on this one. Even if he wanted to let him go, the powers that be will not let him due to the financial liability involved.
Agreed, it sure seemed to me that Miles was trying to get Crowton out of here via a new job last winter (da Bears) and when that fell through Alleva made him stay. Alleva has no one to blame but himself. I don't expect GC to be fired, just demoted. What Alleva needs to figure out is that the cost of getting rid of Crowton is nothing compared to revenue lost from fans or for replacing a new coach.
Coach Stud said on the LSU radio program today that Crowton sent ONE run play in and was ready to send in a quick pass play if the run failed. The players were totally confused about the substitutions etc for the next play. Clearly, this is on Crowton. But Miles must take responsibility and "correct the problem" or it is on him.
JJ played a role here, too, in this mess. Again, at least for me, it goes back to why take out Lee in the first place... :geauxtige
He obviously wasn't ready enough. Who ever is responsible, Miles, Crowton, Alleva or George Bush, he needs to be shown the door.
WAS READY?? That right there says it all with no time outs and calling a running play, that play (the next one) should have already been called! A pass play with JJ would have probably been worse. I feel even worse with that explanation. :dis:
I said in an earlier post that JJ played a role in this mess. I need to take that back; it would appear that this is all on Crowton. I just came across the following in an AP news story (Rivals.com - Sports News, Scores, Rumors, Fantasy Games, and more): "That of course, didn’t answer the question of why LSU didn’t have a second play called in the event a second-down option play from the 2—on which Jefferson was stopped on the 1—didn’t result in a score. “It was a difficult scenario to get the two plays called,” Miles said. LSU had already burned its timeouts, in part because play calls were coming in from the sideline late all game. That same issue contributed to a delay-of-game call on a fourth-and-9 earlier on that final drive. The blunder presented LSU with a do-or-die, fourth-and-14 that backup Jarrett Lee executed with a 21-yard pass to Terrence Toliver." I didn't realize that plays were consistently coming in late... This BS has got to stop! Regardless, I thought JL looked poised and confident on that final drive. :geauxtige
