OK, does someone want to tell me why this kid is no longer listed on LSU's roster? I know we had to make some cuts per the new NCAA rule, but someone please tell me not HIM! EDIT: Evidently he WAS cut. Along with Shane Ardoin, Taylor Martin, Taylor Davis, Stuart Peterson and Rene Escobar apparently transferred (doh!) Well, that sucks. The NCAA sucks a$$!
Wow, he was a stud in high school. Saw him hit two homeruns at a high school tournament at Alex Box as a sophomore. One to dead center.
Yep, and hit a homer in the P&G world series in the fall. Had to have been grades or something. Doesn't seem like someone CPM would cut talent-wise.
Yep, and I feel terrible for the kids who want to play baseball AND get an education. It's hard to have to excel in BOTH. Especially after getting recruited/accepted by a program like LSU. Taylor Martin was also a HS All-American--a pitcher. We definitely shouldn't be cutting talented pitchers...
Taylor Martin lost his mojo after LSU signed him. He wasn't good anymore. He worried about the number on the radar gun more than his control.
Hmm, well! I'll take a Lane Mestepey or Jared Bradford any day over a guy whose only attribute is that he can hurl a fastball 93 mph.
yeah, my roommate had to catch for him last year. he told me he threw hard all the time but never hit the zone. even after he was told to try slowing it down and working on his control, he still tried to hit 90 every time saying the scout want to see the heat. one time he even threw it out of the cage...the fence is at least 10' high
I don't know much about the kids, but I do know after what CPM has done the past two years, I trust his judgement. Talent only goes so far before you have to be coachable and have your act together. If he is as talented as you say, I would imagine it was a combination of being coachable, grade trouble, and maybe a bit of an attitude problem. On another note, I believe the new transfer rule takes affect this year for them. They can't just transfer and play now. I'm not sure if they transfered in this year that it applies to them though. Someone feel free to enlighten me.
