Two years ago I would have picked Saban. I believe he would have won in 2006. But I think Miles is better now regardless of what happens, I am 100% Miles fan. I hope he gets a few more rings here at lsu.

The gun slingers we have playing next season mixed with this young stout defense and young powerful offensive weapons means more crystals are a garuntee.

Yep. I do still believe Saban would have a bunch of rings had he stayed. In 2006 because it was his team. I think Miles learned from those years and is benefiting now.

I will not agree in the least that Saban is the better coach. Miles owns that distinction, IMO, because he is the whole package; he is all of the great things that have been posted above, he is quirky, much harder to 'read' and is, in a word, genuine.

Saban is a lesser coach because he is a lesser man. It is what Saban lacks that diminishes him; he does not appear to be a nice person and, were he not a great coach of a great program, you would probably not waste your time.

CLM would be an interesting guy to know because, even if he was selling you a weed whacker, I sense that he would be genuine (there's that word again).

Regardless of how this year plays out, this guy is our guy and the entire CFB Nation is just a wee bit envious.....

Both are great coaches, with Miles being much more of a family man and much more of a people person. Back on 03 I had a similar meeting with Saban where he dissed my then 14 year old son. As a person I'll take Miles anyday. That puts him on top on my opinion no matter what. He is also the best coach in our history now so add the 2 up and I'll take him anyday as our coach.

I still give huge props to Saban for turning LSU football around as an organization and putting us on the map again, but I think Miles fits the university better, even if its taking ~7 years for some people to figure that out.

I've been a Miles fan since the beginning, and it hasn't always been easy to defend him, but I've always liked him.

My dad wrote Miles a letter of support after the Ole Miss debacle in '09. Three days later, he sent my dad a handwritten letter back. That speaks a lot to the character of Les Miles.

I would follow Miles to hell and back. He is the better coach, but more importantly he is a better human being. Absolute perfect fit for LSU, and I truly hope he stays for a very long time.

I think you are quite wrong. It takes many things to make a head coach. Nick has many virtues, but he has many serious flaws as well. Les has certainly outperformed Nicks record at LSU.

i dont think there has ever been any doubt how i felt. and like stacey said, sometimes it has been hard. but when you look at the turn around, and the lack of time management problems (which, btw, werent ever a problem when he was at ok state) seem to have pretty much gone away. which makes you wonder how much heat he was taking for someone else, or for two offensive philosophies that didnt work together. which is also another reason to like him. he very rarely throws anyone under the bus. when crow threw him under the bus in an interview earlier this year, miles response was "it's always nice to see an old friend win". he took the high road.

i have liked and respected clm since his osu days. i was lucky that i got to go to some of those games. including the osu/nebraska game in (i cant remember, it was 03 or 04) in which osu beat ou AND nebraska for the first time since a few years before i was born. he is still the only coach to beat bob stoops twice. he did a lot to turn that program around. and not just on the field, but with the mentality of the program and the fans.

i will admit that the couple of years before this one have not always been fun to watch. there were times sitting in the stands i would cringe and have doubts. this year, not so much. there is something i cant put my finger on while watching this team. something i cant put into words. and les miles and his staff (because this is a coaching family) are right in the middle of it. no matter what happens, where we go, this has been a special year.

i have been accused of having a les miles blow up doll under my bed. i dont. but sometimes i wish i did. :hihi:
