The UNC game was a textbook example of when one team has a huge talent advantage and the other has a huge coaching advantage. The difference was that talent won by 6 points (or by 6 yards).

UNC is, as usual, a mediocre program with a few NFL-ready studs (Dre Bly, Julius Peppers, etc.). The only difference was that this year their studs did not play. Against them, LSU had perhaps the best WR trio in college football, defensive studs (Nevis, Peterson, and Sheppard) and "special" special teams players. That was a complete talent mismatch.

LSU almost squandered that advantage with coaching. UNC could hit slants at 7-8 yards at will throughout the game, and we never adjusted. What a great job by UNC's coaches, getting the team ready to play after all the distractions, overcoming two early turnovers, and coming back from the 30-10 lead.

It reminds one of Bum Phillips' definition of a good coach: "he can take his'n and beat yours'n, and he can take yours'n and beat his'n." It would be interesting to see that game with the coaches on opposite sides...
