It seems pretty obvious that Les Miles is headed off to Michigan, and that's if they still want him after yesterday, but I was thinking... We are looking toward who the next coach will be, and I'm seeing Spurrier, Davis, Tubberville, Stoops, Erickson, Pinkel, Mangino, ect. mentioned around here. But don't coaches go through primes? Saban was in his when he was at LSU, and I would be surprised to see him come close to the success he had here while being at Bama. Spurrier's team has crumbled this year with it being his infamous "Third Year." Erickson doesn't last long wherever he goes. Butch Davis will also have a hard time at NC State duplicating his past success. Bobby Bowden is done. Paterno is done. Miles is in his prime here at LSU and probably won't do as well even at Michigan. Wouldn't we want to go with a solid up-and-coming (dare I say "younger") guy who is ready to have his prime, or am I a little off? The Jimmy Johnsons of the world are few and far between (success in college and NFL), not to mention the head coaches who leave decent-to-good programs, or even the NFL, and go to other good programs and do well. Or do we hope that experience takes precedent and the prime revives?
Spurrier will never come here so we all need to let that one go, not enough golf course, and what is so great about him anyway. What has he done at USC since he has been there. Stoops - Not a chance Tubs - Also not a chance Mangino - I want a coach who is not an M&M away from triple bypass and a level 3 heart attack. We want a long term coach, dont hire one who is so obese he has to wear moo moo's and velvet track suits. Erickson - No thanks, we already have an issue with players off the field Since we may be facing some rebuilding I would like a young Urban Meyer type. One who wont leave in three years. Its time for LSU to have its own Stoops or Bowden. Someone who will not use LSU as a place to wait for their "Dream Job" I am growing weary of this every 3-5 years. Maybe I am bias but this is one of the greatest places to be and coach football. We need a coach who this IS his Dream Job. Maybe Miles is that man.
Yes, and the timing is perfect. Most systems take a couple years to put in place. We should get a young guy with no ties to a big name program. Next year is going to be the true definition of a rebuilding year for us. The experience just isn't there and any fan expecting to have the same opportunities we had the last two years is foolish. This should give the guy time to go get a few players that fit his system and implement it.
What has anyone done at South Carolina? No way. Our offense should be potent. Our defense more of a question but not as young as Florida's this year. I'm thinking 2-3 loses, and if we're lucky, who knows?
I hear a lot about who we don't want but no names of who we might need. As for as myself I am hoping Les Miles stays.
IF Coach Miles leaves the administration should look at Derek Dooley and Will Muschamp as possible candidates. Just my opinion.:geauxtige
I don't see them turning over this program to an assistant. I'm hearing a lot of names that are not realistic, IMO Spurrier- to old, probably not interested anyway, and we'll be hunting a new coach in 2 years. Rodriguez- at his alma mater with a chance to play for the NC. Bama threw a ton of money and he didn't go. What makes anyone think he'll come here Stoops- you've got to be kidding. Muschamp, Pelini, Fisher or any other AC- Too big a risk to turn over a program at this level to someone with no head coaching experience. Bill Cowher- c'mon
