Mallory's old position was assistant DB coach to Pellini, he never was the real DB coach. He showed this year what he can do without Pellini holding his hand...fire him!

I should preface my post by pointing out that I HAVE NO COACHING EXPERIENCE!! Therefore I cannot pinpoint precisely why the team has underperformed from X's and O's.

However, as a grown man working his way through life I have picked up on the idea that if you do not do your job well you will be replaced by someone who can. This is the system everyone operates under and we all know it.

We should all be happy that LSU's coaching problems have become undeniable. The responsible parties will be replaced by more competent coaches. Next year will be an improvement.....

Now, JohnLSU......a question for you.....with all your vast coaching experience....why weren't you able to recognize the incompetence among the coaching staff......I mean, even though I HAVE NO COACHING EXPERIENCE AND YOU APPARENTLY DO........what gives?

So this to the asine, blowhard that told me to shut up last week for saying a loss to Arkansas would guarantee a shake up in the coaching staff to LSU's benefit.......bite me!!

    yours truly,
    a non-coach

-just for the record....I think Miles is not the problem....but he will correct the problem....just like the head ubangee does in any organization.

I agree. This team had no real team leaders. Real team leaders help in areas of discipline by setting examples. They also use peer pressure to ensure younger players learn to behave in an appropriate manner. We had no Kyle Williams, Glenn Dorsey, Matt Mauck, Jack Hunt, etc. type leaders. Remember in 03 how Saban said that team was a bunch of "self" leaders. This team had no real team chemistry, no real leaders and not much help from coaching staff.

I do not necessarily disagree with you, but many are referring to this player leadership issue, and I am curious how any of us watching a game in the stands or on TV would know who is providing leadership? Do you have ultrasonic hearing and can listen in on the conversations RJF and CS are having with other players? Is it the lack of a player on the sideline screaming at another player? Are any of you attending practices during the week, meals, hanging out in the dorms or apt's of the players? Where does this assessment of lack of leadership stem from? I agree we are sloppy and penalized a lot, but that does not seem to be any different from Saban's teams. Remember, we were consistently one of the most penalized teams during his tenure. I think it has most to do with this being the "college" game and we are talking about 18-22 year olds at a public university, and I would dare say we are not getting kids typically raised in a structured, disciplined environment for their first 18 years (for the most part) - but, suddenly they need to be disciplined and show leadership, or the coaches suck if they do not. If LSU manages to hit one other FG, hold them on 4th and forever, or that last 4th and 1, then we are not having this leadership discussion.

Mallory has to go. He can't coordinate a defense and he can't coach defensive backs. Peveto has to go, too. Lane should go--no excuse for the D-line play this year.

Studrawa, Porter, and McCarthy were not that bad. I have no real opinion on Robinson.

Firing position coaches who are active recruiters is a touchy issue this time of year. I think Miles has to wait until after signing day to make any moves like this.

    Problem Solved:

A new DC will want to organize/mold his own staff so most of these guys will be gone simply through a natural turn-over process. This way CLM doesn't have to be the bad guy...:thumb:

If no new DC, mucho problems.

I always understood that Crowton has always had a free hand in play calling. But Dandy Don indicated he does not, and stated Miles needs to stop handcuffing him and run the offense. Does anyone know which perception is correct?

Crowton has a free hand until halftime. Miles chimes in there. If we are up we shut er down. If we are down, he does much better IMO. Maybe it is because he let's Crowton continue his plan.

A lot of Crowton's offense is baiting the defense and that takes time so he is usually more effective in the second half when he isn't cut off.
