Coaches Hotseat: Les Miles and LSU

Auburn and Tubby will always be considered an enemy by LSU fans, notwithstanding the quality Auburn posters here, because they have been a perennial hurdle for the west.

Saban, for many fans, has become something else altogether. Bama has also had little relevance in the SEC as of late, and yet the overwhelming arrogance of the fan base in response to merely hiring a coach has propelled the distaste to new heights.

Did you guys take a lot of crap from LSU/Miami/everyone else's fans over the hire? Sure you did, but the renewed sense of entitlement has helped to perpetuate it. As arrogant as Tubby has been to us in the past, unless he takes a dump on the Eye, he is unlikely to surpass Saban on the hate meter.

Really what it comes down to is you see a certain amount of respect exchanged between the two tiger teams. On the internet at least, I rarely see bama giving respect to LSU, and constantly allude to our inevitable demise now that "you are back". I see bama boards treat Auburn much the same way. The fact remains that we(Auburn/LSU) are unlikely to slip out of contention for the SEC every year, and it is you guys that will be chasing us. Not the other way around.

Saban's and several of your own fan's attitudes seem to suggest the opposite.

1. bama fans need to repay the college football world for the 25 yrs of cheating. the clock started for bama's drought in 93, so you only have 10 yrs to go.

2. bama fans are cocky bastards

3. watching saban losing is fun

4. auburn isnt really a threat to ever win, so its safe to pull for them

 

Don't worry, I ain't pulling for Auburn.

I am openly praying for a massive Earthquake to strike right as the opening kick goes airborne, and a giant sinkhole of raw sewage swallows the stadium and the entire fanbase of each team. The world would instantly become a better place, and the smell would improve drastically through out that state.

 

I suppose you are right. If I spent more time on other boards I might see that, but I usually only visit them for chuckles. I will say that my bama friends are nothing like this, and I have several, so perhaps it is just peculiar to internet boards. As far as Buzzard goes, I think he and Terry both usually offer up fair opinions, and certainly don't represent the norm. I should probably check Tidefans out to see what you are talking about.

At any rate, I don't personally hold any great angst about bama, but was trying to respond to Buzzard's question about how any LSU fan could root for Auburn over them. I think for most people, it really comes down to what I said. Perhaps time will make it better, though I actually feel bama will run him off before that happens.

LOL I don't care if Saban wins or loses , I know he did not rebuild the LSU program ,. It was here waiting for him . The players at LSU wanted a new coach > The bama playrs know what I knew .They had a good coach, and they were two or three players away from being a great team . And they still are . They are a good team ,. Now I am for Miles as much as I was for Jerry , I never did have a deep like for Saban. Everything Saban does is for Saban , he is like most of us .Enough said about Saban . Bama will lose to LSU this year ! Why because Sara Evans is going to marry one of bama's ex QB's I am mad , LOL, and I am going to be the 12th man on the field . Bama goes down !! I have made it personal !! Geaux Tigers , we are going to have a better team this year , they will play together as one again you watch !! It centers around the coach , this team is going to be "Speical" It is a fact!!

 

My post was intended to get folks excited. But keep in mind it is very hard with any type of true accuracy to label an entire fanbase. Personal biases always will keep a true objective assessement from being administered. One of my best friends in the world is a diehard Tennessee fan. I absolutely DESPISE Tennessee. Whatever issue comes up with that program I go into it with a negative mindset toward Tennessee. Kind of like "I've already come to my conclusion I'm just going back and trying to find enough evidence to support it.". I think most people do this.

I will never like Tennessee or Auburn and will always have a biased, unobjective mindset when addressing them. But at least I'm honest about it. That is why when folks say "ABC fanbase are the most arrogant, delusional, self absorbed fans in the world." I basicaly automatically know that "No, they aren't. That's just the team you hate the most. No matter what their fans act like."

But it's fun not liking other teams. It's what makes the SEC the best conference in the country. I don't like Auburn, Tennessee or LSU. I want you to lose every game you play, except when you play Auburn or Tennessee. But other than that I like you. :thumb::grin:

Screwed by home cooking? Heck we were screwed by home cooking for years in Birmingham/Legion Field (bama's second home). Now that the Iron Bowl is home and home look how things have changed. bama wins the Spring games, the rest of us win in the Fall:grin:
