Earlier today, Mack Brown took Barack Obama on a tour of the Texas athletic facilities. I think this is a brilliant public relations move by Mack Brown! This can only help his ability to recruit. Remember, when Lou Holtz was the coach at South Carolina, he helped lead a protest march with thousands of Blacks in South Carolina against the Confederate flag.

I wonder what Mack will think when he's paying 60% in taxes to support the lazy ass people who prefer to live off of government cheese. Ooops...I'm sorry. I forgot we can't tell the truth if it's not politically correct.

I didn't think Texas ever had a problem with recruiting. I thought it was just Mack choking that kept the Longhorns from playing for more titles.

Yeah Holtz went on to get have consecutive #1 recruiting classes and won those back to back national champsionships.

More coaches should use this strategy.

this kind of thing is far more is far more beneficial to the candidate than the coach.

This will work as well as the 2003 thought of inevitable success at Mississippi St. in the recruiting field due to Croom being black.

Which way do you think blue chip recruits and the parents of blue chips recruits are leaning?

That's not the point. Holtz had to overcome the baggage of campaigning for racist Senator Jesse Helms when he was out of coaching. What better way to do that than to protest the confederate flag? As an Black LSU alumnus, all I can tell you is that these things do matter in the hood.

george wallace was the governor at alabama when they had top teams and black players.

i dont think politics go very far in the way of recruiting football players.

It won't help his recruiting one iota. Recruits make their decision based on a lot of things, but not because the coach brown-nosed a candidate.

I agree that Holtz' protest of the confederate flag obviously helped to heal the wounds somewhat while at SC. But this event with Brown won't help him one bit.
