On Defense, Hustle, and Rebounding... "I have absolutely no patience in any of these areas. If a kid struggles on the offensive end, as long as they aren't selfish, we are fine with that. " On the 2 position: "We are asking Terry and Marcus to do things that they haven't been asked to do.... that is shoot a 3 and get back in transition." "Between Terry, Marcus, and Alex, whoever plays the hardest on defense and rebounding will see the most playing time." On Injuries... "Everyone is fine apart from the nicks and bruises after 6 hard days of practice with the exception of Garrett Green who has a lower back injury and we are taking that very seriously. There will be a MRI in about a week. "I will never ask a kid to play through extreme pain" On the point guard position: "Bo Spencer has been a pleasant surprise. He has an excellent basketball IQ. However, we are asking our point guards to do more than they've ever been asked to do. Our offense runs through the point guard position, from calling plays to knowing where people are on the court". "Chris Bass is just a freshman, and he's making the typical freshman mistakes, but he plays 900 miles an hour". On leadership: "Garrett Temple is our leader, by example.. He takes care of his business on and off the court... socially, academically, and generally". "Tasmin Mitchell is very vocal, a little too vocal at times". "We ask our leaders to lead by example. Leadership is all 14 kids doing what they are supposed to do and being where they are supposed to be". On sideline demeanor: "I never get in a kids face on the sideline." "Most of the coaching and preparation should be taken care of during the week." On packing the PMAC: "We will represent this university as good ambassadors. I can't promise that it won't be ugly at times, but you will see us playing hard at all times and the fans should expect and appreciate that". :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige CTJ is the man.
he kept throwing Tasmin under the bus. was reminiscent of some other ex-coach. he mentioned tasmin's mouth 2 or 3 times and I was only sporadically listening during a lunch workout. i never knew tasmin was a big shiite-talker. Always seemed rather quiet but i like the coach letting it known to speak with your play. I like his quote on despite the looks on his face during timeouts, he really likes the guys who are playing for him...sometimes. (paraphrase) he sounds like a guy who demands but also commands respect. im liking him.
I don't know if it is referring to his talking trash, but maybe trying too hard to lead with words when his example isn't following.. Dunno and don't really want to extrapolate on the kid. It was delivered deadpan, so it took me a second, but it was pretty funny. It's all about walking the walk. When the kids see his discipline it will carry over onto the field/court. Jim Haslett learned this one the hard way.
true. my first reaction was he tried to coach but later it seemed like he just runs his mouth. he's a deadpan guy. Im guessing he's a tad intimidating. not going to be a lot of bs with this guy. reminds me of a black nick saban except he'd kick saban's ass.
Trent had the entire team introduce themselves and say a little something at the TAF pregame party before the UGA game. This guy is really getting me excited about the upcoming season.
