whats the truth? been away but was he really offered 900K by UT? i find that hard to believe. i was shocked seeing the ticker across the screen during the game showing yawyaw to knox (I refuse to call it a crawler, not sure why). did the kiffins really fly in and sway him? does anyone really know anything after it was 99% he was coming to LSU? does mike s ever get anything right? who's our next dl coach? one of chavis' assistants at UT?
SUPPOSEDLY The Kiffins did fly down there and upped the ante and O came running He wanted a DC and they used that i have seen 650K and 900k, nothing is official
Went to the Quarter for New Years. Left Tuesday..came back last night. (too many gumps there...UGH) Saw Jack Del Rio at Antoines and Brittany Spears getting out of a limo as we left on New Years eve. Saw the news on WWL Tuesday night that O was coming. Called my wifes uncle (works in Tenn athletic admin) told him what I saw. He laughed, said Ogres agent was playing LSU. Said O accepted the Tenn Job on Tuesday afternoon. Tenn is going to be paying around 600K which is what his agent told Tenn they needed to offer. Said it was either stay with the Saints or go to Tenn. Said O was never serious about LSU and just used them to get his Saints contract upgraded then bargained it against Tenn's first offer (around 400K). He also said Chavis would not take having O forced upon him. Ogre went exactly where I said he would all along, he followed the biggest bag of money. Just like 99% of all coaches. In the end, we didnt need him anyway. I always questioned the move and glad it didnt happen. I think we were asking for trouble mixing O into the staff. Too many egos. We will be better than fine without him.
I will accept all of this as 100 % accurate. Extremely plausible and likely. Add in the fact that Booby Hebert was his sidekick in this whole charade and he played the part magnificently. Hopefully Hebert gets a good chunk of change out of this. I suspect so.
I've said all along that my postings about Coach O were strictly from the Tenn perspective. However, it all went down exactly how I was told and everything he said turned out to be true.
I thought it could be nice to have him, good recruiter, but we're doing good without him. We can probably get a very good d-line coach for a lot less than 500K. On a cost benefit ratio, loosing him will work out well financially.
I was thinking about the same thing..... wow, what a line! That's a keeper in my vocab. book:hihi: But seriously, I was also concerned whether O can work with Chavis.
