Apex, you realize the numbers you are throwing around just don't seem feasible?

I mean is Tennessee or LSU going to pay their D-lineman more than their DC?

Word is Chavis is getting a bump from 400K to 500K. So then Coach O comes in at 500-650K?

I am wondering if you thought all this logic out.

I think the entire Coach O thing is kinda like a science experiment gone wrong and out of control. At least the rumors that precede him have.

That's what I got out of it. I'm sure there us incentive to pay him more, I just can't think f what it would be. I remember reading about it when Ole Miss cut him loose.

Sounds like Ole Miss' way of just guaranteeing that he makes 900k per year. Doesn't matter how much of it comes from them.

USAToday, Dec 29 -- according to former New Orleans Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert, a close friend and former teammate of Orgeron at South Lafourche High and at Northwestern State:

"Ed is deciding on staying with the Saints or possibly going to LSU or to Tennessee," Hebert said Monday. "But if he thinks either one is a lateral move, he'll stay with the Saints.

"If everything at LSU and Tennessee would be even, he'd go to LSU," added Hebert, whose son T-Bob Hebert is a redshirt freshman center at LSU. "I know that. Louisiana is his home, and he's coached everywhere. Ed would be fired-up type guy on defense that LSU needs."

Orgeron is a former Ole Miss head coach who became known as a premier recruiter while an assistant coach at USC.

This I don't see happening. I don't think that Ed O would come back to the college level and play second fiddle, unless he were guaranteed something bigger down the road. And to that I have to say, we fans better be careful what we wish for. Thats just MHO.

Gibbs did about as good as can be expected as DC for the Saints. The Saints' problem is personnel. They haven't drafted enough quality on defense. The Saints need to dedicate this next entire draft on defense as well as free agency.

How much did they spend on Shockey? What a bust. Billy Miller is just as good for much less money.

For all the Saints' problems on defense, the DC is the least of their problems.

As reported by who? I have yet to see anyone with authority report what O is making with the Saints. I dont think the Saints have to report that to the NFL and I'm not aware of any credible news agency stating what the Saints pay him. Maybe Johnbot can go to work on this.

According to his buyout he is still be paid something by Ole Piss. That figure is reduced by whatever he earns elsewhere. From day one my Tenn source has stated O makes approx 250K with the Saints, not including what Ole Piss is paying him. That appears to be about right for an NFL D-Line coach and far exceeds what a college D-line coach would make.

Us paying him 500K would be stupid. I dont see any way we rationalize that.

Tenn has not offered him 650K, they offered him 400K which was supposedly more then his current salary but the Saints countered. As of this afternoon, Kiffin was trying to get his assistants pay pool increased in order to sweeten the offer to O. I dont know if that has happened yet. O's agent told Tenn that it would take 600K for them to even consider the offer.

I've said all along that O coming here makes no sense and the more thats being rumored just confirms that. We really dont need him anyway and I cant see Chavis being comfortable with O being forced upon him.

I have no idea whats going on within LSU but I can assure you that my Tenn source is impeccable. He's my wifes uncle and has worked in the Tenn athletic department for over 20 years. We just spent Christmas with him and his family and talk all the time. I know what he is saying is exactly what Tenn is perceiving the situation to be.
