If Grobe actually goes to Arkansas, that would be insane. That would be a huge win for the SEC. Grobes is on the hot list for all the national powerhouses with coaching vacancies, like at Michigan now that Miles turned down them down. I mean Grobe brought Wake Forest to the freaking Orange Bowl. Wake Forest!!!! That's insane. His Wake Forest team beat Florida State for the last two years!!! Last year, his Wake Forest went to the ACC Championship, where they beat Georgia Tech. That's how the got in the Orange Bowl. In 2005 and 2003 Grobe's WF beat Bowden's Clemson team. In 2002, Grobe's WF beat Oregon in a bowl game. You have to remember, he did all this at freaking Wake Forest. How do you recruit players to go to Wake Forest??? Wake Forest is garbage. Getting Grobe is a huge victory for Arkansas, if it pans out. I'm telling you, a lot of other programs are interested in him as well. Go start researching all the recent commentaries on the best coaches to hire, and you'll start getting excited about having Grobes.
I know he won the ACC last year, but I've heard some bad things about the way he runs his program as far as conditioning & being lax on players' attitudes. I don't know if it's true, but it does bring about some concern (at least it would if I was a Hog fan).
Reports out of WF (Scout) have stated that Grobe is staying at WF. (as of 9:45 EST) CP, I've heard the same thing many times. To the point that even during spring practices he doesn't use all the alloted time (per NCAA regs) to practice with his team.
just heard pat forde say the same thing. that, and that michigan is looking at the ball st coach (ouch).
he's making the right decision. With Miami, Florida State and the other traditional ACC powers having a tough time, you might as well stay if the $$ is right. b/c without McFadden, lord knows Ark will have hard times in the SEC next season.
We need to talk about your hiring reports. It's just we're putting disclaimers on all the hiring reports before they go out now. So if you could go ahead and try to remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!
I agree with that on McFadden, but losing Hillis along with McFadden makes it even worse. He was an unsung member of that team for quite some time. They have a good one coming in next year in De'Anthony Curtis, and a handful of ATH's in the '06 class that may be in the running behind Jones next season. (none thought of as highly as either DM or FJ coming out of HS though) BTW, did you know they still have another Dick at QB waiting in the wings? And, even though the wildcat/hog formation put Casey on the sidelines a lot during his Jr. year he didn't have that bad of a year considering...
