Comparing Nebraska fans to LSU fans:

“They’re not on you, and they’re not rude and they’re not vicious and they know the Civil War is over and they know how to act. Now, I don’t mean to suggest (that is the case at LSU), I really don’t.”

Wow, didn't enjoy your last visit here huh?

I saw that last night. Why oh why would an intelligent coach give the fans bulletin board material??

Maybe I just answered my own question.

No kidding, that is pretty rude and disrespectful. We don't know the civil war is over? WTF kind of comment is that? We are a bunch of north hating racists in his eyes?

Oh well, as if this team needed extra motivation to send the Box out a winner.

Truthfully, I hope he feels the same way about 6:30 Sunday evening.

Oh, no. Of course you didn't. That seems like a completely random sentiment to express, particularly when comparing two fanbases.

LSU fans are famously welcoming and polite to opposing teams and fans. Hell, I can still remember the UCLA players tailgating with us after we beat them in a Super Regional years ago. I was also present for the chants of 'B-U' when we were fixing to send Baylor home. What a jerk-off. Let's make sure this visit isn't a pleasant one, either.

Yep, ask UNC-Wilmington about their visit here a few years ago.

it only takes one fan to generate this reputation.

the article did say he got into a heated argument with a fan. who knows what that fan said.

Completely random unless you read some of the prior comments which included this:
Are you aware of the comments that the LSU fan allegedly made to Gillispie during his last visit? Do you think it's fair game to go after a visiting coaches wife? Let's face it, I doubt he was being asked over for BBQ after the game. Still doesn't make it right for him to have engaged the fan.

If LSU fans are as welcoming as you say then wouldn't your mindset be to prove that rather than make sure this visit isn't a pleasant one?

To hold a grudge against an entire fan base because of something 1 fan said over ten years ago is pretty immature.

Let's just beat the living crap out of his vaunted pitching staff and make him wonder why in the hell he even bothered to bring his team to Baton Rouge in the first place, why don't we?

    Death to UC-Irvine.

    That's my version of payback.
