I'm not going to believe anything until Miles says so himself. If this year has taught us anything it's not to believe speculation, and until it's announced by the university that's all it is, speculation.

That said, if that's the route CLM wants to go then I'm all for it. The guy has an eye for talent with players and coaches alike and I trust his decision 100%. Pelini turned out to be a good hire, and I think we all agree that Crowton turned out pretty well too.

I mean, how many schools go and win a BCSNC after losing 4 first round draft picks (1 first overall pick) and getting a new OC with a whole new offensive scheme installed? We're gonna be just fine.

    That is one long post...

A fan expressing his opinion on co-DC is somehow hurting LSU?

Have you ever watched a football game and said "WTF" after a play call? Never disagreed with a coach to go for it on 4th down? Never offered an opinion that is contrary to the coach?

i saw Peveto at a coaching clinic in December. He was advocating a new defensive scheme that would revolutionize a defense's ability to stop the spread. It involves a defensive line where the tackles are outside the tight ends and the defensive ends are out near the slots. He said he got the idea from his sorry punt formation.

hopefully he isn't the new guy...reggie herring???

I don't like the idea of co coordinators, if we are going to hire from within pick the guy most capable and give him the job. I trust Miles to hire the right guy, I hope he just picks one.

Several were interviewed and the 2-man setup is the favorite, but it is not a done deal.

As far as the Joe McKnight comment by the other poster... Joe didn't come here for one reason: Because Momma didn't want him to... And when I say Momma, I'm not talking about his mother, if you catch my drift. :)

As mentioned, Pelini was a co-DC. I believe several other programs have them as well. They don't create any confilct of authority issues.

One, Mallory, will be the true DC (play-calling duties) while the other (Peveto) will basically just play a more prominent role in game-planning than he did before as a position coach.

This is not just a way to boost their salary, but a way to promote both of them to help them grow & succeed in their profession.

I have no doubt that if Miles thinks they are capable, that they are, but that if they are not, he will let them go. There won't be any loyalty issues where we are stuck with these guys regardless of how good they are.

I just don't like the idea of co-coordinators because of the idea of two many cooks in the kitchen making decisions so to speak. If Miles wants to hire from within, I wouldn't have much trouble with either mentioned but I'd still prefer a DC from outside the program to bring fresh ideas to the table.

I know we all hate his punt formation, but did any of our kicks get blocked this year? The one that "almost" did against OSU turned out very well for us.

The new defensive scheme sounds kind of crazy, but on the other hand, no one else has any idea how to defend against the spread. What if he's on to something?

I like it, or at least I surely don't dislike it.

I also agree, if you keep doing what you've always done, you're gonna keep gettin what you always got. Almost didn't post that part cause we did win a National Championship but, dam, we had some tough, close games. Maybe they won't have to be SO close in the future with a revamped scheme.

LAWD, I can hear the critiqes now but someone has to be innovative enough to challenge norms or we'd still be using horse & buggies and cutting firewood to cook/heat our homes.
