I guess you'll be one of those fans that will say "I told you so" after the defense has a bad game....I'm sure most of those fans have their tails between their legs but are licking their chops for one bad game once the season starts.

I guess you were one of those guys that wanted to give Mike Archer and Curley Hallman one more year.

Reports are that Tenuta is a jackass and not a good fit for a team built on chemistry between coaches and players alike.

I would be surprised if we haven't at least interviewed several guys for the position in an effort to put the best product on the field. So I would think that the story is true.

Miles is very calculating in all of his decisions. No reason to think he would just default to a coach on the current staff without much thought given to other potential candidates.

I don't buy that this is all said and done.

So why did you bother joining an LSU football message board if not to discuss LSU football?

    Chicks?

I have a lot of thoughts on this.

But for starters, I was a serious athlete for 15 years of my life. I could never imagine questioning any of the Coaches that I had... just like I could never imagine a single LSU player ever questioning one of their LSU coaches.

As for LSU fans, I view them as the 12th man, LSU fans should always be on board with whoever our current Coaches are and what they do. I mean, if you go around running your mouth about our Coaches and their decisions, how does that help LSU? How are Louisiana high school recruits supposed to want to come play for LSU's coaching staff, when they see that LSU's own fan base doesn't even 100% trust them? That's part of the reason why kids like McKnight don't go to LSU.

That said, I'm not saying that we shouldn't have any football conversation around here, but I am saying that if you have something to say that doesn't make our coaching staff look like they know what they are doing, you better make pretty damn sure can back up your opinion with intelligent, well-researched opinions -- and at the same time, you better make damn sure you make our coaching staff look like they are a coaching staff trusted enough by LSU fans for high school kids to want to go play for.

Basically, if your career is anything other than a full-time football coach (even at the high school level), you are fool to think you can begin to question somebody whose career is actually that of a full-time football coach (especially considering how much LSU coaches are paid -- think how much people pay us in our careers).

That said, I'd love to see some people on here who are full-time coaches (even at the high school level, no matter the sport), I'd love to hear what you have to say.

Finally, another thing I hate about people questioning LSU's coaching staff -- when you question LSU's coaching staff, you are questioning Skip Bertman and the LSU Board of Supervisors. If the LSU Board of Supervisors was unhappy with Skip, they would fire him. If the LSU Board of Supervisors was unhappy with LSU's coaching staff, they would have them fired. I'd love to know what the meetings of the LSU Board of Supervisors are like when it comes to possible debates over AD Skip Bertman and the coaches he allows to run our proud football program.

But I doubt anybody on the LSU Board of Supervisor talks about Skip Bertman like he doesn't know what he is doing when selecting great coaches for LSU's sports teams. After all, Skip is one of the greatest coaches in the entire history of the NCAA. And you have to remember, that Skip's job is in on the line with any decision that the LSU coaching staff makes. Skip has no problem questioning LSU's coaching staff on anything LSU's coaching staff does to hurt our football program. Skip is 100% responsible for supervising LSU's coaching staff.

Wow. Admire the passion and the faith, but can't wait to see what this starts... :)

I guess then you're one of the folks that wants Brady to stay? How do you feel that this sentiment transfers to hoops, or any other program at LSU for isn't football? :milesmic:

Not passing judgment, just saying we (along with any other school) probably need more fans like you supporting all programs at LSU. It's a testament to true "fandom" I suppose. Although, it's certainly easier to be a fan when you're winning championships.

I agree with you about Skip and I will never forget all that he has done to bring LSU to the top. I know this is his last year as the official AD but he will be very influential still as a fundraiser.

However, questioning at this time is only logical without all the facts. Questioning is healthy for a program and I know this takes place in Board meetings. Nothing is wrong with questioning as long as it is constructive and civil.

That being said, I also believe there is much more to the progress of hiring a DC and after all the necessary interviews take place I am going to trust that Miles will make the right decision.

I don't think so. I believe McKnight wanted to get away and liked the journalism school at USC. Plus, USC isn't a bad school or change of scenery.

Every college has fans that think they know more than they know. If there is a college out there that doesn't, there is a college out there with poorly attended home games. Questioning promoting two guys from our current staff to co-DC isn't such a crazy thing to question.

There are a lot of Miles fans here. Some of us like to pretend like we know what we're talking about and pick the brains of other fans who think they know what they're talking about. I think that is healthy and should be encouraged. We have a long time till our football team kicks off again and our basketball team isn't looking so hot.

    well said.

add to that, there is more than just finding a good dc. there is finding a good fit for the program. not all dc's, no matter how good they are, are the right fit for the program.

i guess another argument might be, what is more important in a dc? talent or chemistery with the program? imo, there has to be a bit of both. you might have to sacrifice a bit in both areas, but you dont want to focus solely on one aspect at the expense of the other.
