that's a good point. it's obvious special teams were a concern and need a position dedicated to it not just taking peveto's time away from LB's.
this way, we have a new ST position which should improve performance and peveto (who will probably be on the field) can motivate call signal in plays etc. and mallory will be the guy in the booth calling the plays.

should streamline both ST and D.

that's just total speculation by me though.

but i understand the reluctantcy of most on this thread. either way i agree with clair, gotta stop the spread.

If co-DCs worked better than one DC, more schools would do it.

That probably isn't because it necessarily doesn't work. I would think 1) most schools cant afford to do it and 2) most top DCs wouldn't want a co-DC position when they can have total control....JMO

What job are we creating? Peveto is LBer coach and special teams coordinator. If he is promoted, we will have an opening for a position coach. Given the restriction on the number of asst coaches, I doubt we hire FT special teams coach. A position coach will probably be given those duties.

I was assuming a special teams coach will be hired. It was noted in the first post, and I've heard it before also.

Exactly. He's earned that at this point.

Wow, after winning a championship there are still doubters out there...I guess some people can never be happy or are just waiting for Miles to lose 3 games in a season and say "see I told you, he sucks, he makes a bad decisions all the time".

Not to brag or anything but I said that he was gonna hire from within...I don't mind the CO-DC, only one gets to call the plays, both Mallory and Peveto have the experience in order to lead the defense...The experience of being at LSU and winning an NC is more than enough.

BTW: Muschamp before coming to LSU only had 1 year as DC at Valdosta State, go figure.

Well, I don't really like the sound of it, but I'll repeat everyone else's sentiments. Trust the hat.

If the answer to every question is "trust Miles", then we wouldn't have much football conversation around here.

Guess that would leave even more time for social discussions on this board.

:geaux: :crystal: :helmet: Saw on Dandy Don today that CLM interviewed a cadidate for the DC position. Didn't say who the candidate was though. Don't know how accurate the report is either. Anyone heard anything?

Also, what happened to Tenuta from Ga. Tech as a candidate? I thought he was the front runner. Did he go elsewhere? Sure hated to see Muschamp go to Texas. Would've liked him back at LSU.

Not sure I think co-coordinators is a great idea. Guess we'll see how it all shakes out.:geauxtige :champs: :LSU231: :crystal:
