http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/ncaa/12/06/newberg.recruiting/1.html A couple things struck me as being very odd with this list. PITT is in the top 5, but USC is nowhere to be seen in the top 10?? For you recruiting gurus, could this be so?? Here's what they said about LSU:
USC only has 4 commitments as of now but will definitely be in the top 10 and most likely top 5 at the end. They are averaging 4 stars as of now.
USC will be top five yet again. Maybe even number one. This is the players on scout that have him as the leader. Yes I know scout is sometimes inaccurate, but the following players also high on rivals. They have TONS of RB's lined up. Stafon Johnson ***** S/RB LeSean McCoy ***** RB CJ Gable ***** RB Steve Schilling ***** OL Taylor Mays ***** S Commited Antwine Perez ***** S Commited Louis Holmes ***** DE Emmanuel Moodt **** RB Ray Small **** CB (probably OSU bound) Shareece Wright **** CB Anthony McCoy **** OL
Blue chips that want to play early may shy away from USC. There are a lot of big schools with championship possibilities that don't have three 5-star players ahead of them. Stud linebackers, offensive linemen and receivers with hands could find significant playing time as a redshirt freshman or sophomore at LSU.
since I'm avoiding the morons in the Den, Ill post here some (since they really dont care enough to follow recruiting, only to bitch about whats ont he field).... Teams that you know will do well in recruiting typically dont move up to later in the recruiting season... those BIG name recruits usually holdout until national signing day or an allstar game to make the announcement on tv... they want to be the big man on campus for one last time before becoming a pissant freshman... Texas is an exception to this because so many recruits from texas are overrated and texas is dominating recruiting there with TA&M no longer a big competitor...
Don't forget old Dolphins HC David Wanstadt is at Pitt now, he'll turn a lot of players towards Pitt thinking that he has the fast track to the NFL.
Not if they've ever watched the team he coaches. I might be biased as a Fin fan, but the guy has about as much credibility as Hal Mumme.
