Worried that Trump's video of him wrestling with cnn could be dangerous. Funny they never spoke about dangers from the miles of bullshit they've stoked with the hands up, don't shoot, black lives matter, etc. That's going to feed into their latest "Russia" script of, "Is he of sound mind?"
Sound mind, not, he's coo coo for cocoa puffs. CNN itself is not important,.. but the freedom of the press is. Trump has curtailed some access already, if his continued attacks weaken the press's freedom, it weakens our democracy. Trump's tweet was funny, but this isn't a laughing matter.
The press is weakening their own freedom by their total lack of journalistic integrity. Just as elected officials should be held to some accountability so should the press. The framers of the constitution never anticipated the media outlets as a shill for an agenda.
I get what you mean - even agree somewhat- but the problem was they'd become too powerful. It's what got him elected in the first place. Oh and we're all coo coo in some ways. People identify with him cause, like they say in the black community he's real.
Sorry but our founders were the first who ran partisan papers and broadsides. Jefferson and John Adams and all the others including Washington feuded continually through noms de plume and surrogates. The level of vitriol was extreme. Freedom of the press was very important not of desire for balance but to allow opposing views to be heard. Because of that there has been a partisan press throughout our history. Most cities and towns had two daily papers, one Republican and one Democrat. They campaigned for the political party they supported and attacked the opposition vehemently. Other papers rose and fell to push their political agendas from communists to Nazi and everywhere in between. It is only since the advent of broadcast that the concept of a supposedly fair and impartial press was promoted. I think that is because the radio and television stations needed federal license and the ability to broadcast was limited. The FCC imposed standards of fairness that limited partisanship in the TV & radio. We're returning to that historical pattern as there is practically no limit on people's ability to have their voice heard. It's something we'll have to learn how to live with and in spite of everything I believe it will be a good thing in the long run.
With the internet and now social media anybody can have a platform for any wacko ideas at all. Even Rex.
There you are and I just found this in The Atlantic. https://www.theatlantic.com/amp/article/530736/ Showing how the liberals have lost their minds over Trump and spreading every rumor and lie no matter how wild.
No worries Ann, just say, "Hands up, don't shoot." https://www.yahoo.com/news/anna-navarro-trump-apos-cnn-035258778.html
