Different kind of closed vs. what USC does. Now Jacques Doucet wont have to film a 4 second clip of a lineman going through a sled when he does the news - rather, LSU will provide it for him. This change doesnt really affect anything.
How so? GDF....yours become closed today as well. Agreed. Frankly, there are plenty of programs doing the same thing so I don't see why it should be an issue here.
O has said once the offense is fully installed the practices will be open. Closing practices right now won't affect the program for the worse, but perhaps not for the better. Time will certainly tell.
This is about the media being able to film for the first 10 minutes - when nothing happens anyway. Not about whether fans can see a practice.
Probably an issue if you're not used to it. You're right vball, Chip Kelly closed practices to fans and media his first year at Oregon. Wasn't a popular thing with our fans, but was softened when a popular Eugene sports reporter became editor at goducks.com, Oregon's official webpage. Working with the Coach, he releases a daily practice report. New Coach Taggart has said he wants to loosen the practice restriction, first two were open, we'll see what happens.
Got it. I guess I still don't see it as a big deal. The way the press reports things can be misleading anyway and if he wants to keep injuries under wraps, then closed practices are smart.
Chip said the fans were a distraction, said one time a guy wheeled in a shopping cart full of mini-helmets, then got indignant because LaMichael James wouldn't sign them during practice.
Coach O said there was no point because there would not be much individual drill periods to start as they are installing the new Offence. Said he would open it up later when there are more individual drill periods and the offense is installed better. From what I read from his press conference.
