Then why did they let JJ throw 4 passes on that drive, including the final play as time ticked away?

Field position? We could have run the clock out if that's what we were worried about. I'm not so concerned with the rest of the drive, but you have a first down with 10 seconds left, 15-20 yards to go to get a shot at a long field goal attempt, and 2 timeouts, and you just hurry to the line? If we were so concerned about Jefferson throwing an interception at the end of the half, we should have just run the clock out.

    I don't buy it.

They were "letting 'er rip." We had NOTHING on offense going into that drive. I think the coaches challenged our guys. For that matter, if Rueben Randle had caught that ball on the 15, we probably would've scored.

But I'm not sure that was the ultimate intent as the drive began on the (what?) two. I did, however, truly set the tone for the rest of the game. And I hope, for the rest of the season.

How many time outs did Bama have left? I really don't know. To be honest with you, I thought it was pretty dumb trying to move the ball at all. I think what happened was they did move it a little, and then they looked at the time left and saw that Jordan had some success, so rather than kill all confidence in the kid or have some bungled wacky play at the end or a turnover, they decided to go into the locker room down 4 points. I don't see what the problem with that is.

did you see any "holy shyt, wtf was he thinking" moments, where the clock management was one big cluster? no? me neither. when that happens, it is an issue.

Same here. I did hear some people grumbling about the time outs, but when Coach sees something he doesn't like before we snap the ball, it's his job to either grit his teeth and let the play run, or call timeout and stop the play before a potential mistake is made. I have no problems with how he coached the Alabama game or how he managed the clock. Reminds me of the '07 CLM we all liked so much, and it was quite effective I might add.

LSU took possession on its own 3 with 1:25 to play. That forced the coaches to be very conservative in their play calling. By the time they got the ball into safer territory, there was not very much time to accomplish anything, even with better use of their timeouts. And don't forget, Randle dropped a pass in the Bama red zone, which had a big effect on the outcome of the drive.

There will never be a "perfect" game, so let's not nitpick the very good ones.

This, you are getting the ball back after half, why would you take a chance and throw a few down the field when you are only down by 4. I have no problem with the conservative play at the end of the first.

There was a couple of people freaking out at the end of the game when Miles let the play clock click down to zero. They didn’t understand that if they snapped the ball and knelt it that it would stop the clock and give Bama the ball on the spot of the kneel. Giving our punter 5 more yards to work with was the correct call there just like the conservative play calling was right at the end of the first half.
