Seriously? What part was supposed to strike fear into OSU fans? The win over .500 colorado, an opponent so weak that it removed OU from NC consideration? The 7 pt win over a lousy FSU team before the suspensions? The ugly game vs UCF? Auburn looked pretty impressive for about a quarter down the stretch, though Clemson is pretty mediocre as well. Spiller/Davis are good, but there's virtually nothing else for Auburn to worry about defending. I think the SEC is plenty deep and talented, but I haven't seen anything yet to strike fear into OSU fans.
Wonderful. Plenty of mediocre teams get ranked in that range. Don't believe me on clemson? Then prove me wrong. Where is the impressive win here? FSU, La-Monroe, Furman, NC State, CMU, MD, Duke, Wake & SCar. Contrast that with their losses: 3-13 GTech, 23-41 VTech, 17-20 BC... and today.
Clearly. Still waiting to hear which of these 4 wins was supposed to be nerve-wracking, as suggested.
You say Colorado is so weak they removed OU from NC consideration....kind of contradictory there. They were good enough to beat them. The FSU win wasn't that great, but FSU is a talented team known for a couple upsets here and there. Dangerous team to overlook. That game was UCF game wasn't great, but it was a win against the top running back in NCAA in terms of yards. And MSU's run D wasn't even that good and they held him in check. UK and Bama were expected to win, but Auburn and MSU were underdogs. I don't really know what is supposed to strike fear in you guys but no reason to discount the wins by the teams....that happen to be in the SEC :geaux:
Stanford beat USC. Does that really make Stanford a good team? Colorado lost 7 games. That means a bit more to me than one upset. Wake me up when FSU gets a useful QB or OL. Until then, they will continue to waste offensive talent. I agree a win is a win, and the conference is quite good overall. I just didn't find anything overly impressive about those games. Auburn was the closest to doing so, but they didn't really turn it on until late. If they had brought that late rally spirit to the rest of the game, I would tip my cap to them.
You're forgetting that Auburn had merely weeks to start using their new offensive system. An immobile QB, lack of practice.. and they still come away with a win against the #15 team in the country? Clemson was a jack-of-all offense. They're near perfectly balanced. You don't need superstars when you have a team of solid players. Auburn was impressive. General consensus down here was that they're going to be scary good in seasons to come. I'm eager for Florida vs Michigan.. and Tenn vs Wisc. Florida rarely fails to impress. Did you expect the lower ranks of the SEC to be impressive? Bama should be moderately impressive next year.. they had a terrible run this time through. You just can't expect to much from Miss. St and Kentucky (bama this year).
