http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/nov/30/sources_swinney_be_named_coach_clemson/ Kinda surprising if you ask me. I never heard of the guy until Bowden was fired. After watching him coach the last couple games, you could see the fire in him, plus the players like him.
This has to be a sort of disappointing hire for the Clemson fans. It's not very exciting when the promotion is from within (see our DC debacle). Plus, he's been part of a staff that was largely unsuccessful. I mean, look at WVU's experiment with promoting an assistant to head coach to lead a high-profile team.
