only 2 active 300+ game winners square off. 11 cy youngs combined.

i think they said the last time 2 pitchers with this many wins met was like 1911 or something b/t cy young and christy mathewson.

    should be a 10-9 final.

only the 3rd time they've opposed each other.

    342 & 325

Maddux doesn't have much left, while Clemens has a little more

with that being said, I think Maddux goes 7 strong in this one, b/c this is like his playoff game this season, and we all know how the Astros love to not score Roger any runs

It will be quite some time (if any) you see two 300-game winners face each other again besides Clemens/Maddux.

the only way is if they meet again. then it likely may never happen unless glavine meets maddux late next year since rocket likely re-retires.

so theriot gets another start at 2b taking time away from todd walker.

if theriot was to be sent down, mike fontenot would be next in line.

i wish the cubs would leave our guys alone. its like going to the saints.

Both of them looked very, very good.

Classic Maddux -- nothing overwhelming, but leading to more infield dribblers than I've seen in a game this year.

Clemens was sharp too. He had better control than the previous outing. The Cubs were doing a good job of getting deep in the counts with foul balls, but couldn't convert them to hits/walks very often.

Did anybody see what Clemens did to poor Ronny Cedeno -- TWICE? Both times, Cedeno was having a great at-bat. Clemens kept working low and inside, over and over. Cedeno clearly couldn't hit those pitches, but could foul them off. After sitting on a full count for about 4 pitches, CLemens burned a high (and a bit outside) fastball (around 92 mph) right past him for the K. Hilarious, because you could tell Cedeno knew he was screwed on both pitches.

My girlfriend's grandpa was watching last night while we were visiting. He startled me because when they pinch hit in Clemens' spot he jumped up yelling pissed off. Because the guy hit into a double play. He was angry that Clemens was done for the night. "3 HITS AND THEY PULL HIM &###@! JUST 3 HITS!!!"
