    "Heating, Not Burning, Coal"
"Fan discovered a way to heat coal, using iron-oxide pellets for an oxygen source and containing the reaction in a small, heated chamber from which pollutants cannot escape. The only waste product is therefore water and coal ash -- no greenhouse gases. As an added benefit, the metal from the iron-oxide can be recycled"

I think its a good idea. More of it please.

Damn good news. A result of university research funded by the Department of Energy.

Clean coal? Isn't that an oxymoron like jumbo shrimp?

Jumbo shrimp ain't no oxymoron. There are a lot of differences in sizes. I have some 8-10's in my freezer, they are jumbo.

The terms jumbo and shrimp together are in fact an oxymoron. While there may be differences in sizes of shrimp, the word shrimp also means tiny, or small. In fact, jumbo is actually listed as an antonym for shrimp in the merriam-Webster dictionary.

Yes but in that sense shrimp is not meaning tiny or small

This seems like good news but I really don't understand all of it yet to know what affects could be.

Yes, of course that's a benefit but what is cost, ability to scale, etc.

Have you learned nothing, cost doesn't matter when you are saving lives.
